FORMER SOUIX AND WAYZATA ASSISTANT DIES IN BOATING ACCIDENT

Marty Schriner
Wayzata Varsity assistant coach and former Fighting Souix, Martin Richard Schriner ("Marty"), died suddenly, on Saturday, October 27,2007 in a tragic boating accident in Western Minnesota.
He was a member of the national junior Olympic hockey teams (Select 16 Team, Select 17 Team, and the 1992 US National junior team). He became a member of the Fighting Sioux hockey team, playing for the University of North Dakota from 1990 - 1994.
He played in the East Coast Hockey League until the winter of 1996. Injuries forced an early retirement.
For the past 10+ years Marty taught at North View Junior High.
