Nov 9-10: MSU-Mankato vs. Minnesota-Twin Cities

This weekend the Minnesota State University-Mankato Mavericks will face off against the 14th ranked University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Golden Gophers in a home and home series with some DQ Cup implications. The first game of the series, on Friday night, will be held in Mankato while the Saturday night series finale will be hosted at Mariucci Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Mavericks are coming off of a non-conference road sweep over the University of Alabama-Huntsville Chargers while the Golden Gophers were swept on their home ice by the University of Denver Pioneers. This is a big series for both teams with the Mavericks trying to take advantage of the Golden Gophers while the team is a bit down and the Golden Gophers trying to reclaim their spot within the upper levels of not only the WCHA but the entire national college hockey scene.

Thoughts or predictions on this WCHA match-up?

I think the Gophers COULD sweep, they just gotta start clickin. Im going with a split though as I think they still have a lot of work to do...

Split - they lack team chemistry, goaltending has not been strong enough and even putting the puck on frame has been troublesome for the best snipers

I'm predicting a series split here.

Minnesota played a good game but has to play a full 60 minutes if they want to get anywhere this year.. Okposo needs to start moving his feet and show everyone that last year wasn't a fluke..

White with a good trash goal last night, along with kauffman. Gophers did a good job getting to the net and getting trash. But boy does the 60 minute comment ring true.
