No Schwan's Cup this year? I shouldn't complain but this lineup looks worse then the past two years.

That is pathetic. All that time and that's the best they can come up with. No Rapids, no East, no Marshall!

I posted the schedule yesterday on the Gopher Blog. From what I was told, there is a scheduling conflict which is why they won't be showing any Schwan's this year.

My feeling is it is better to a schedule of HS games like this than to have no HS games televised at all. I appreciate the fact that they are willing to show games like they have. It sure as heck beats when we didn't have any games on FSN.

Very true, GB. The other thing that people need to remember is that FSN is making no money from televising these games - they'd be better off financially televising reruns of a sports bloopers show. Rather than complain, anyone who is a fan of HS hockey should be writing a letter to FSN thanking them for what they are doing.

I received an update a little bit ago. The first paragraph was revised and FSN is going to decide the day of on 02/09 on which game to cover at 1:30. It will either be the Blaine vs. Roseau game at Baudette or the St. Thomas Academy vs. Hill-Murray game at the Xcel Energy Center.

STA is already on the tube 1 more time than they deserve.

Rams vs Bengals should be shown.

All the waiting, anticipation, and discussion on what the schedule will be for FSN for boys high school hockey in the 07-08 season.........

blown into a million pieces.

My grandma who knows nothing about MN high school hockey could've pulled high school names out of a hat at random and come up with a better schedule than that of FSN's.

Let's remember, that FSN has the Wild, T-Wolves and Gopher hockey during many winter nights so they probably do the best they can with available dates/match ups. They don't have a blank slate to simply pick whatever games they want. They have to pick games that fit into the available slots they have, etc.

Blah, Blah, Blah... In no way, shape, or form will I let logic and reasoning spoil the fact that the schedule is a disappointment. Buffalo? Stillwater twice?

Whiners. The only outrage here is that the Johnson/Como Park game won't be on.

I received another update. The Section 4AA Championship game is tentatively scheduled but is subject to change. They may cover a different championship or, possibly, more than one championship.

Guys, FSN does all they can to air high school games. It takes a lot of set up and logistics to make it work. Scheduling is extremely difficult and, believe it or not, some teams will not rearrange their schedules to fit FSN's schedule. I would give FSN a break for getting 16 games scheduled. I was amazed that they even started doing this a few years ago. It cannot be a big money maker for them. They don't have to provide this 'priviledge'. They could have aired something else. l am grateful that they are doing this for another year.

I do appreciate what FSN is doing. But we have been spoiled with such good games the last two years. This schedule just doesn't seem like it will live up to the previous two. But whatever I will still be watching.

I just don't understand Stillwater playing twice. Does anyone really have much interest in that team?

I am not positive, but I thought FSN couldn't broadcast playoff games because of the MSHSL contract with KSTC. I wouldn't expect to see any section championship games televised. Perhaps the folks at KSTC should consider using their contract to their advantage and broadcast a select few of the section championship games.

ive seen the WBL vs HM section games on TV before, they are on local cable channels. I just dont think anyone but KSTC can do state games.

too bad they couldnt fit in WBL vs HM for anyone not going to the game

HM vs Holy Angels would have been nice too

Games where you root against both teams aren't all that appealing.

Yes, I do! They are playing Rival WBL who they upset last year and Holy Angels who everyone likes to watch....don't they? It also has to do with the arena they are playing at.

Nice schedule. FSN should be ashamed of themselves. They've clearly eliminated the north teams from their schedule. Must be of the mind that northern folk don't belong. Televising games was a great idea, and in the last couple of years, they've done a good job spreading things out, but this year they've done the north an injustice. The defending champs get on once(maybe twice)but Stillwater is a given? No GR, no East, but Cloquet vs Buffalo? Who thought that would be a better matchup than Roseau vs Rapids from the far north? A rematch of the state finals is more appealing than most of what they've got scheduled. It appears there is only three maybe four north teams listed which is another slap at northern teams. Why don't they just sell a package and call it ANYONE WHO IS NOT FROM THE NORTH? I really do think it's a joke. As a hockey fan in general, I'd rather watch Roseau vs anyone or GR vs East compared to Stillwater vs whoever. At least mix it up a bit.

Surprised Hermantown did not get on this list with a 30+ unbeaten streak and they have some good early matchups.

Wow, we get to watch HS hockey on TV, and the best we can do is complain because they didn't pick our team/region!
Let's see what the geniuses on the board come up with, use the same dates, and give us a better game to watch.

OMG, thank you! I forgot to mention Hermantown. What the heck! I know they don't have a clean calendar to work with, i.e. Geophers, Wild, T-who cares. But, there are hundreds of other games they could have chosen with the openings they had. I think it's the metro's childish way to get back at the north for dominating the state tourny.

One northern team I would liked to have seen is Anoka, since they'll win 7AA. I don't know how they get overlooked and Blaine gets 3 games.

Anoka is not a northern team.

And to pick them to win 7AA before the season starts.. That's just bold!!
