Tryouts begin today!

The first day of tryouts has finally arrived! This is when dreams can come true and hopes can be destroyed. All those years of youth hockey boil down to a few days under the watchful eye of the high school coach.

Coaches have to decide if they should go with the senior who was a marginal performer or take a risk on a freshman who shows promise.

Regardless of the coaches selections, the end result is still exciting for those of us who love high school hockey.

Good luck to all the athletes!

I am sure there are some nervous lads in classrooms today.

Good luck to the young athletes. It's always fun to start a new season.

To all you freshmen going out for varsity, try not to pee your breezers.

Good luck to all...

What % of the team is aready picked?

I suppose it will vary greatly from team to team depending on how many returners there are but in general, on the average , Id say 85%.

so you're saying for freshmen goalies;

It seems like the thread has developed into a peeing contest.

Lets hope the spots on the team that are "Up for Grabs" go to the best players.

Good luck boys.

Just curious, how does your hometown, or school do their tryouts? At mine they have 2 sheets of ice, newcomers/JV on one rink, and Varsity on the other, trading players between the two rinks and having them play mostly competitive drills such as down low in the corners, 3-3, and so on.

HShockey2180, sound like you have the numbers for tryouts that kid will be cut. Does your program have it that NO Senior will play J/V? It’s Varsity or you’re done? :(
