I thought the Icemen were done with the exception of 2 teams.

apparently not - I was able to contact one of the 98 coaches and he said they will be sharing practices with the 97's and that he eluded to the 94's thru the 96's will be playing next season.

94's thru 98's are active...there is talk of building a 99 team for 2009.

The 94's switched team names. They are most of the same players, but their team name is now the minnesota north stars.

The 94 Icemen booted off the Chaska contingent, one of whom had the rights to the name. So they bought new jerseys, Jr Stars, now the remaining team is going to be the 94 Easton (stealth or Synergy). the Chaska guys are going to be the other Easton team.

That's why when you go to the website all there is, is a picture of the Chaska Boys. (and one other kid, I don't know who he is.)

So D-6..if I'm following the puck the shakeup at the 94 age group looks like this...

Stars= last years ICEMEN not from Chaska + whoever they pickup

Easton= last years ICEMEN from Chaska + whoever they pickup

Blades = last years Blades + the top 3 kids from last years ICEMEN possibly added onboard

REEBOK= holding tryouts soon according to a recent post

BERNIES 94's = some kids from somewhere are going to end up at MM?
Are we sure this isn't the Machine 96's and an overzealous group thinking they can actually play with top end 94's?

(the last one's sure to spark some comments!)

LQTM (laugh quietly to myself)

Well, almost. I read my post and it was not too clear.

Old Icemen = Easton Synergy for in state tourney's, Jr Stars for out of state tourney's.

Booted Icemen = Easton Stealth (whoever else they get to fill the team)

94 Duece = Led by old 94 Predator coach, filling the team with whoever they can get.

Bottom line, Blades are #1, Team Midwest #2 the rest????
(yes blades did get at least 2 of the top icemen to go to a couple tourneys, don't know if they are full time. they are not on the website yet.)

94 Icemen

The 94 Icemen were falling apart before last year. They were in the same spot as a lot of teams get in to. Some of the kids that were standouts as squirts were no longer able to compete at the highest level. At that point a team has to make a choice to either stick with the same group of kids and accept that they will struggle or cut some kids and try to upgrade to stay on top. They chose to stick with the original group and that led to some of the better players to look at other options. The Blades faced the same situation about 2 years ago and chose to cut a number of kids and change the the coaches at the same time. They are now the top 94 team in the area. That may change again, they have kids now that are no longer in the top group of kids. It happens to every team. Kids all develop at a different pace. Be careful who you cut, you may have to play against them next year!
As for next summer-
Blades
Jr Stars/Blackhawks
Team Midwest
Reebok
Team Easton (Chaska)

Just a guess.
