cool how everyone is goin to UND. come on doesnt anyone have love for the hometown team anymore???? i know UND is known to produce the most NHL players, but watever. Atleast the gophs have aaron ness and hopefully Budish will commit to minnesota. but if Budish goes to UND, then Minnesota might as well stop playin hockey, cuz everyone is goin to UND and no one is showin any love for the gophs

Etune21 im not sure i agree sure players Like Brian Lee (Moorhead) T.J. Oshie (Warroad) and Michael Forney (Thief River Falls) all went to UND but for them it is a closer school and that would be the hometown team.
While The gophers are still getting players like Blake Wheeler (Plymouth) David Fischer (Apple Valley) and Jay Barriball (Prior Lake) to commit to the U. It should be other Schools complaining about loyalty. The Gophers Recruited great Northern Players like John Mayasich (Eveleth) Neal Broten (Roseau) Wyatt Smith (Warroad) Dave Spehar (Duluth) Dylan Mills (Duluth) Keith Ballard (Baudette) Even Grant Potulny From Grand Forks and Currently They Stole Players Like Cade Fairchild (Duluth) and Patrick White (Grand Rapids) should i keep going?

Well as a retort UND...let's go the Lundbohms (father & son), the Burgraff's (2 or 3), Mike Baumgartner (pro), the Christians (1 pro) , Earl Anderson (pro), Hangslaben (pro), 3 - 4 Marvin's, Stoney, Brandt(s), Ness (the dad). The lists go on and on in both directions - Gophs...Olimb, Willie Marvin, Yon. They're both top flite hockey programs that offer top notch coaching and facilities. Why do this?

It does make you wonder what the Bulldogs would look like if they had Fairchild, White, D. Fischer this year (I know I'm probably missing some). But imagine if UMD kept all the top players from 7AA and 7A.

Undercover, both programs are solid programs. Mr. Hockey, you might want to look at UND's current, past, and future rosters. They are pulling many kids from the metro. Just because a person lives up north doesn't mean you are a fan of the closest school. People who live in northern Minnesota can be and are just as big of fans of the U as metro fans. Using that logic, how far do you have to live from the U so that you can no longer consider that your hometown team? Minnesota would be divided into 5 regions for hockey (D-1). Kids don't "owe" loyalty to any institution. they should go and play where they think it is best for them, not where the fans want them to go.

The University of Minnesota men’s hockey team has announced eight National Letter of Intent signees for the 2008-09 season.
Jake Hansen, Sam Lofquist, Nico Sacchetti, Grant Scott and Jordan Schroeder all signed during last week’s early signing period. In addition, Mike Dorr, Brandon Martell and Taylor Matson, who signed previously, will also join the Golden Gophers.

Hasn't signed a letter of intent yet because he isn't officially a senior. I would guess he won't sign one until after the school year when he is graduated.

Dorr is planning on it last I heard. One year of juniors and then MN. With all these great young players lets just hope he gets some time to play.

The Gophers always seem to attract the more finesse players and the reason not a ton of them go to the NHL is because you have to be an exceptionally good skater, passer, shooting, stick handler, etc. to play like that in the NHL.
