Forest Lake at Grand Rapids tonight - 11/30

Forest Lake defeated Cambridge at home 4-1
Grand Rapids tied Cloquet 2-2.

I'll say Grand Rapids should win by 3, but the game will be closer than it should.

GR 3
FL 2

I hope you are right, but rapids teams from the past have had a tendency to play down to their competition at times. Let's hope it doesn't happen this time (right? players reading this forum).

GR out played them. Saves were 48 -20 in favor of Rapids and that pretty accurately describes the game.
FL goaltender looked good.

0-1-1 to start.
Both OT games against good teams.
GR will get everybodys A game all year.
After the last 2 years, they won't sneak up on anyone.
They have played their best hockey after New Years in recent seasons.
My glass is always half full. :)
Unless I am talking about Childress and the Viks ( :( half empty then)

A surprising result, though the shot totals are the obvious caveat to the final score. I still think Grand Rapids is better and certainly will be come February, but Forest Lake sent a message with this win. Though they're not a great team, they can hang with anyone in the section and have upset potential. They are no longer a team to be taken lightly, and there are 6 teams in 7AA now that should be realistically discussed with chances in the section.

I agree with Karl on this one. I was beyond shocked when I got home from the UAA/CC game last night and saw this. Oh well, Forest Lake has thrown a wrench into 7AA. Been a while since they've done this. I think Rapids will be atleast a few games below .500 Jan. 1. They'll finish above .500.

I think they'll get everyone's A game, then when their record is bad teams won't be quite as geeked to play em, and Rapids has a lot of young guys that should only get better.

The 7AA picture is murkier than ever now. This game brings Forest Lake into the picture and shows us nothing will come easy for Rapids. Cloquet's ugly loss to Minnetonka last night shows they have issues as well. We'll get a better picture as to how good East is after they play Wayzata today, and throughout the month as their next 8-10 games (depending of Schwan Cup opponents) are against preseason top-20 teams. Anoka is still looming, and we can't really forget about Elk River either. It's going to be quite the season to watch.

Cloquet losing to Tonka 4-0 and GR losing to Forest Lake...it just goes to show you can't lose the quality players both have lost to graduaton...and think you'll be as competitive the next year...I don't see the 7AA picture as being murky when it comes to the two top teams...Anoka and East...it's a little murky regarding the other 2 teams...who will probably be Cloquet and GR.

A little early to say Anoka and East are the top 2. I'm just not sold on Anoka. I saw them at the Colesium in St. Paul a few days after the 7AA semi's and they were no where near the level of play the 7AA teams were at. I know this is a new season, but there was nothing I saw from Anoka last year to make me think they'd be a threat this year.
