Well we know Edina has played good competition (Wayzata, Eastview, Roch. Century...), so Everson is set for a solid season. Not sure about Chaska or Hopkins - though it's great to see an 8th grader doing so well

Regardless of who Hopkins has played, an 8th grader with 10 points is doing pretty dang good. Just to make varsity in the first place shows hes very good player for his age.

Meyers of Champlin Park has played one game, had to sit out due to infractions in other sports, and got himself 4 goals. Champlin played North St. Paul to a 7-2 win. I know 4 is too many, but it must be considered seeing as he has played one game, and he played "one of the best goalies in the state" according to the star trib.

I look for consistency game in game out, at pointed out, scoring 5 goals against weaker competition is not as telling of a person's talent than a 2-point game against a top-ranked team in a 3-2 win. Your elite players perform night in and night out. Scoring stats can be just that. Thanks to ESPN's top ten we have become lazy at understanding team play and real talent. One had only to watch the last few years of Elite league play to see the emphasis on individual play.

Agree

Often times kids are looking to pad their stats against the much weaker foe.

As for the Elite League, John Russo wrote about "What Are The Scouts Looking For" in the last edition of Let's Play Hockey. He stated that the plus-minus stat is the primary stat for defensemen. Yet, the plus-minus stats are never listed on his scoring lines for any players. Mr. Russo does a great job with his league. Plus-minus may add some control to the individual play you are referring to.

i think that 23 points in 6 games by JT Brown is a pretty good start especially since they have played 3 top 20 teams and he deserves his case for Mr. Hockey

JT BROWN is the most dominant player in the state right now and has no sign of slowing down his scoring so it really doesn't matter cause he will out score anyone.

Hopefully he can keep himself out of the penalty box.

Everson is off to quite a good start as is Joey Benik from St. Francis.

If you get a hat trick every game you can sit in the box all you want

But if he wasn't in the box, he might have 5 or 6 goals per game

Joey Benik is a pure goal scorer and is only a sophomore. He doesnt play too tough of a schedual but he is still a good player.

He has 12 goals. You didn't qualify your question by asking what teams he played against. :?

eastview, holy angles and jefferson were three teams that JT has played against this year so i think pioneers was putting his vote towards JT Brown

and i would agree eastview aha and jefferson is some good competition for him to have as many goals as he does. i cant wait to see what he does against kennedy and eagan.
