Does anyone know the teams that are playing in this on the 21st and 22nd of this month? Are the North Dakota teams any good this year?

Roseau plays Grand Forks Central at REA, 5:30 12/21.
Bloomington Jefferson plays Grand Forks Red River at REA after the first game.

Both losers play the next day at 5:00, followed by both winners.

Red River is 5-0. Grand Forks Central is 5-1. Bloomington Jefferson is 6-1. We'll see how good they are come next weekend. In other words, other than Roseau, I have no idea of the quality of the other three as I haven't seen any of them.

Should be some good games. Updates will be appreciated...

I'll be interested to see how the top North Dakota teams do againest one of the top schools in Minnesota (Roseau), and to see if Jefferson can pull any upsets to prove how good they may actually be......

This will be an interesting tournament. Four very good HS teams. Who has Central played that they are 5-1. Central may be stronger than I thought?

I would think we will see Roseau and Red River in the late game Saturday night, but hey that is why they play the game on the ice.... not on the bored 8)

They have beaten Minot, Fargo South, Fargo Shanley, Crookston and West Fargo. Their loss was to Fargo North.

Gonna ref some WCHA games? I'd pay admission just to watch you ref Goon! Maybe get some guys together and follow you around. We'd call ourselves the Goon Squad. Maybe we'll run a book and you can be on the payroll?

Roseau will have their hands full with GFRR this year.
Otherwise this tourney seems really weak, Jefferson is decent, but Central is weak (Pulled a HUGE upset on South though, somehow.)
I'm sure you'll see the RR/Roseau matchup that all the ND people want to see.

Roseau doesn't care about a perfect record. They only care who goes home with the big trophy in March.

As far as playing in a better Holiday tournament, I disagree completely. The JASON STADSTAD MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT is exactly the type of tournament they should play in and be proud to play in.

As far as why they aren't in the Schwan's Cup, which is really what you are asking, I can only give my opinion which is they are on a limited budget and likely can't afford it.

This tournament looks like it is as good as any Holiday Tournament around. Yes it does not have as big name as the Schwan Cup, but the teams are top notch. Jefferson is not a slouch team. Central is even better than I thought this year.

Plus the Arena does not take a back seat to anyone. I do not think even the X has marble floors.

The answer to why Roseau doesn't travel to Holiday Tournaments in the cities is: 1) Expense 2) They haven't done so in the past and it seems to work. 3) They typically take a trip down to the cities to play a weekend during the regular season, so with the other trip coming in March, why is another needed...

As far as the perfect record comment: When a team hoists the trophy on Saturday night in March does anyone care what their overall record is? :?:

Roseau should at least invite some better teams to their own holiday tournament. LOW, River East and Farmington. It's gonna be 10-0 every game. What fun is that to watch. I guess it's good if you want to pad your stats. [-(

That's true, but i think they try to get good teams in for their tourney. Most top tier teams probably don't want to come that far for 3 days during the holiday season. Just my theory. Didn't you view that tourney as a chance to pad your stats back in your hay day?

Why not? Good food, good people, and 3 hours of daylight should be enough for anybody!

I was more happy with the fact I got more ice time. Never played in the close games.

I love this time of the year. When i get to work it's dark, then when it's time to go home it's dark again. I'm basically a vampire.
