Sure they can play. There are many players who have done this. They can play before and after the high school season.

....as long as they haven't transferred high schools. If player were to leave his school for a ushl team and then decide it wasn't for him, he couldn't transfer back to his old school and be eligible, though his parents could move to another school attendance area and be eligible there

I love loopholes.

when they do a before and after they still go to school at their original high school and they just go to where ever their USHL team is playing that weekend and meet up with them there. So they didn't transfer schools so they are still eligible to play for their high school in MN

There's a time frame involved at the beginning of the high school season. If the player returns at the correct time, he is eligible to play for his high school team, and then may return to his USHL team after the high school season. More and more players are going this route. Youso from I'Falls is one of many. He played in Green Bay this fall, and is now back with the Falls. It's a great option for the upper tiered players.

Was just curious after seeing Festler in town. Anyone know if he has any plans to play for the flyers again?

The USHL is on a break until after Christmas. That's probably why you seen Jared in town. Most teams have their players returning the day after Christmas for practice.

The USHL teams released the players on the 16th, and they return on the 26th. You will see some local flavor at high school games this week.
