6AA: BSM, EP, Tonka, Hopins, Wayzata
2AA: Jefferson, Edina, Burnsville, AHA
3AA: CDH, Rosemount, Woodbury, EV

6AA: After those 5 nothing really left so none are real threatened by an upset only problem 2 will meet first round. Guessing Wayzata and Hopkins.

2AA: 4 Tough teams even though AHA is not what they have been and they always choke they still are competitive. Same thing as 6AA nothing scary besides them.

3AA: 4 teams that are good, upsets could happen, Eagan has already had one, EV has weak goaltending, Rosemount had to comeback against AV this year already in the 3rd.

In the beginning of the year i woulda came on this thread and typed in 2AA in the largest font possible and then said that's it......

But now as the season hits it's midpoint we see that AHA isn't nearly as good as the past few years with having already as many losses this year as they had the last two years and burnsville may have been a little overhyped (I'm not saying that their not good, just not top 5 in state material) Edina has been as good as advertised and Jefferson showed they maybe a little better than advertised but that section......what is it 6AA? is stacked
Benilde, EP, Tonka- All in top ten teams in state (in my mind)
Hopkins (undefeated!)
Wayzata (upset potential)

After 6AA it's easily 2AA followed by whatever section roseau is in....because the team that wins state will be a team from one of those two sections or roseau

6AA
2AA
3AA

As stated above, 6 has 5 very very good teams in it. I'd say same goes for 2AA. And we all know no matter how bad AV is coming into sections, they're scary come playoff time. Added to CDH, Romont, and EV thats going to (Hopefully) make things interesting.

Are we talking about the hardest section this year or overall (as in present and future)?

Right now I would have to say 2AA and stick by that. Reason being is that Although Right Now it seems there are better teams in other sections, I feel this section is the only tossup with really solid teams. I think Edina could get beat by either Burnsville or Jefferson, and I never rule out AHA.

You are not alone.

With AHA struggling and Minnetonka winning the Gold Schwans and BSM beating Edina, right now its 6AA.

1. 6AA
2. 2AA
3. 7AA
4. 4AA
5. 8AA(Gets nod over 5AA because of Roseau)
6. 5AA
7. 3AA
8. 1AA

At this point in the season the Top 2 sections are pretty obvious.

6AA
2 Teams(BSM, Tonka) that are top 5 teams in the state. Hopkins, EP, Wayzata are not bad 3-5 teams in any section. Best top 5 seeds in the state.

2AA
Edina, Jefferson, Burnsville. Those top 3 could rival any other section. AHA hasn't proven anything to me at this point in the season.

Here's where it gets tough... 3AA, 4AA, 5AA, 7AA, 8AA. (1AA is clearly the worst AA section in the state)

My thoughts... I ranked these 20 teams (top 4 from 3AA,4AA,5AA,7AA,8AA) and then averaged the section teams rankings. If you want to see these 20 teams ranked ask, I'll show you.

3AA - Top 4 Teams(Rosemount, Woodbury, EV, CDH)
AVG RATING: 12.75
4AA - Top 4 Teams(HM, Tartan, WBL, Roseville)
AVG RATING: 9.50
5AA - Top 4 Teams(Centennial, Blaine, CP, MG)
AVG RATING: 10.75
7AA - Top 4 Teams(East, CEC, GR, Anoka)
AVG RATING: 9.00
8AA - Top 4 Teams(Roseau, Moorhead, Brainerd, Buffalo)
AVG RATING: 10.75

At this point of the season, I would have to say that section 3 is tougher than 4.

State 3AA's case over 4AA... I don't see it.

3AA:
Apple Valley, Cretin-Derham Hall, Eagan, Eastview, Hastings, Henry Sibley, Park of Cottage Grove, Rosemount, Woodbury.

4AA:
Hill-Murray, Mounds View, N St Paul, Roseville, St Paul Como Park, St Paul Johnson, Stillwater, Tartan, White Bear Lake.

They are both tough sections, but I have to say my top 3 are:
6AA
2AA
3AA

Who from 3AA is your top team? Are they better than HM?
Who from 3AA is your #2 team? Are they better than WBL?

How can you say 3AA is better than 4AA? I still don't see it. Every section has the bottom feeder teams that have no chance, so i just judge them off the top 4 or 5 teams, and 4AA is better than 3AA.

Top Sections going into January '08

Until AHA kicks it into gear, section 2AA is not as deep as once thought. My top sections with top seeds in order to date....

1- 6AA (Tonka, BSM, Hopkins, EP, Wayzata)
2- 7AA (Cloquet, Rapids, East, Anoka)
3- 3AA (Rosmount, Woodbury, EV, AV, CDH)
4- 4AA (Hill, WBL, Tartan, Roseville)
5- 5AA (MG, Blaine, Centennial, CP)
6- 2AA (Edina, Burnsville, Jefferson, AHA)
7- 8AA (Roseau, Moorhead, Buffalo)
8- 1AA (sacrificial lamb for Roseau!)

#1 in 3AA right now is Rosemount, with Woodbury a close second. Neither is better than HM, but both are better than WBL, as is #3 in the section-Eastview. CDH (#4 in 3AA) is definitely better than both Tartan and Roseville (#3 & 4 in 4AA, not necessarily in that order). Outside of HM, 4AA doesn't have much.
