Both teams are doing well in the conference. Red Wing has been playing good hockey as of late. Holy Angels hasn't been doing as well, but is still dominating conference opponents.
Any thoughts?

the wingers just tied Prior Lake, who are not very good. The holy rollers will have this game in running time by the start of the 3rd period.

The Lakers goalie was hot. Their players were not. Red Wing outplayed Prior Lake the entire game. I would say that 75% of the game was spent in the Laker's zone. Shots were 45-20 in favor of RW.

I am going out on a limb here and predict AHA will win this by four goals. Red Wing is tough at home, but they tied Prior Lake. AHA beat Prior Lake 5 - 0 and AHA has improved since that time, even though their record does not show this. RW is not a WBL, DE, Moorhead or Wayzata. I am not going to be in attendance and not happy about this, so someone will need to post here the outcome and an honest accord of the game.

An honest account of a game with a private school in it? That was a joke, right?

AHA - 0 - 3 - 1 = 4
RW - 1 - 0 - 1 = 2
Truly winnable game for Red Wing, however a questionable game misconduct/disqualification really opened it up for AHA. If you take out the "shouldnt have beens" and add the "should have beens" it was a 3-2 win for Red Wing. Obviously it wasnt the case. Good game for both teams, though I think we expected more from the Stars.
On the good end, Red Wing students got to stand up tonight! Guess they realized it actually HELPS the players.

AHA - 0 - 3 - 1 = 4
RW - 1 - 0 - 1 = 2
FINAL
Red Wing opened up the scoreboard with the first goal of the game during a PP. Over all, it was an evenly-played first period. The period ended with a RW penalty, which overlapped into the 2nd.
The second period was a disaster for RW. AHA scored about 7 min into the period to tie it up. With barely 3 min left in the 2nd, Jared Strusz (RW) made a check from behind, and was given a full 5 min and a game misconduct. I think that was pretty harsh. It's usually a 10 & 2 for checking from behind. During that 5 min, AHA scored twice, which I would bet would not have happened if it were not for the lengthy 5-4 situation. This period ended with yet another penalty that overlapped into the third period.
The third period was similar to the first, but with more pressure from the Wingers.
Final shots according to announcer: AHA - 24, RW - 19

The whole conference is rooting for it, but I don't know if it is going to happen. AHA is tough at home, and the Wingers are going to be looking for a win next time around, but I just don't know if someone can pull it off.

BTW, let the record show that the final poll was 50-50 with no favor going to either team. C'mon people..... you can't vote after the game's been played.

Thank you to the people who gave their opinions on the game. Since I was not there, then I have to take what you wrote as the truth....but as we are not referees, and I have a brother and a co-worker who are refs in the state high school league. Do not think that the penalty was harsh.
As far as AHA losing inthe conference, I do not see this happening. If this were to happen it would have happened tonight or when they play New Prague at New Prague. AHA destroyed New Prague at Richfield in AHA's third game of the year, but in NP the plays rink the fans are loud and you have a tough time there. Maybe it will happen next year.... Again thanks for the comments on the game.

Whoa, hold on to your high horse. First of all, a lot of people know refs in their communities... that doesn't mean squat, so I'm not sure why you mentioned that. Second, referees are not infallible, and they never will be, so just because you know them doesn't mean they will make the right calls every time. I would say that 99% of the time the call is legit, but there is no such thing as a perfect ref.
That said, I retract my statement saying that it was harsh because I had a chance to look at the tape. Because of the cross-checking motion, he was given the two game suspension as well as the 5 min major.
