I can't believe i'm saying this, but at the midway point the mighty Raiders from Hastings have as good a chance as anyone..
Add Roseville's 5-0 shutout over the Bears to that list.gophs12 wrote:i think the bears will come out on top in this one. they have already beaten stillwater, roseville, hastings, and forest lake. there only disappointing loss this season was to park. wb has 4 losses on the season and two has been hill and the others were cloque and park.
After seeing WB play Roseville last night and Woodbury beating CDH, I think this is Woodbury's to lose. WB was flat, never got any loose pucks and their goalie let in some softies.ROOK EYE wrote:I would agree at this point the Bears maybe odds on favorite. I keep waiting for Stillwater to step up, and that doesn't look like that's going to happen. Another example of , just because you played the game doesn't make you a good coach. Housley's had enough time to start turning this thing around.. The more i see of Woodbury the less impressed i am.. I'm still not sold on Hastings. Beating Roseville-Woodbury this year although quite an accomplishment given the circumstances, does not have the same effect as it may have in year's past. Sounds like they were outshot pretty bad in a both of these wins? A hot goalie does not make you a good team. The Rochester holiday tourney they play in is very weak. Just my opinion, but the SEC has less talent this year than in quite a while.. Alot of average teams.
Ever heard of Adam Mueller? Your probably sick of hearing his name after last night, as he scored 4 of the 5 goals on WBL.wblsuperfan A wrote:There aren't any real Mr Hockey candidates in the SEC, but there is still plenty of talent.
The Bears got out worked, out hustled, and outplayed. Mueller had a great game.Orty wrote:After seeing WB play Roseville last night and Woodbury beating CDH, I think this is Woodbury's to lose. Orty
McDonagh, Hansen, Hickey, Kieffer, Dorr and Taylor Johnson are all moving on to the USHL and eventual D-1 scholarships. Obviously there isn't as much high end talent as last year, but the level of hockey in the SEC has not dropped off.who_b_dat wrote:We will know a lot more come this time next week. Roseville plays Woodbury and WB draws CDH on Thursday. Roseville then squares off with CDH on Saturday in a Raider v Raider affair while CDH and Woodbury go at it.
If they can sustain some consistency between the pipes, I predict that the Roseville Raiders come out the the week undefeated. Led by the red hott Mueller, Roseville will force BashBrother to reconsider his earlier silly comment.
Im also not buying any of the "this section has less talent than previous years" comments. Mueller, Eddy, and Bohrer would certainly disagree. Their teams can play with anyone and win thier fair share.
If the SEC is not your bag, maybe you should follow the Independent, Mississippi 8, or Tri-Metro leagues. Year in and year out there is quality hockey in the SEC. This year is no exception.
Woodbury and Cretin just played last night. They don't meet again until Feb. 7th at Bielenberg.who_b_dat wrote:We will know a lot more come this time next week. Seems to me that White Bear recently lost to Park for the Wolfpack's first win of the season.tshockey2 wrote:There is one good team in the SEC and it's WBL. Thats it.

Really? I'm pretty sure Roseville just destroyed (and shutout) WBL last night, but maybe I imagined that?tshockey2 wrote:There is one good team in the SEC and it's WBL. The conference is down this year at the top. The last few years it had a number of good teams and a state champ. No potential state champs nor Mr Hockeys this year but still a good conference.ROOK EYE wrote:Scottie how can you say the talent has not dropped off?? Park-Mounds View-Hastings-Stillwater- Forest Lake they all stink. They don't play anyone so how can you gauge anything. These teams couln't play with most of the Classic Suburban this year. Cretin the leader of this conference got pounded twice by STA and i believe Hill as well. I for one think the proof is in the pudding..
Good take Packerboy. I would say Mueller for Roseville may have a shot at Mr. Hockey if he plays like he did Saturday night. The SEC may not stack up against the Lake Conference but these things go in cycles. Roseville,White Bear, and Woodbury all have excellent youth programs. Cretin will continue to put a good team on the ice. Woodbury will be taking a run at the traditional powers and if you look at the success of their Bantam and Pee Wee teams this year are here to stay. With the new East Ridge high school being build in Woodbury it will be interesting to see what effect it will have on the Woodbury program.packerboy wrote:The conference is down this year at the top. Because no team is really that good, what you will get on a given night is going to be a mystery. Woodbury will lose to Hastings and then beat CDH.
This is a year where a lot of "traditional powers" are down and nobody has taken their place. Kind of of an "Up for Grabs" scenerio.
