A year ago Carpenter guy put together the following list. One may change a name here or there but this would be one heck of a team.
G Ikola
G Casey
D Housley
D Crowley
D Ramsey
D Larson
D Martin
D Zmolek
F Mayasich
F Antonovich
F Broten
F Broten
F Sheehy
F Boucha
F Langenbrunner
F Spehar
F Millen
F Bonin
F Rasmussen
F Cullen
John Mayasich, Eveleth, led his team to 4 consecutive state championships. (1948-51). He was a stud in HS and at the U. Also won silver and gold at the Olympics. (56 & 60) Regarded as the best by many and he's even credited with inventing (or being one of the first) to utilize the slap shot. Google him for a look at some interesting hockey history.

It is a tough question because times have changed so much, and the game itself has as well from how it is played to the equipment that is used, and even the rules themselves have changed. Bottomline_ this state has had many greats.

I dont wanna give away any hints at my pick......(its all in the name). Seriously though, I would say Mayasich, followed by Boucha.
Honorable mentions of modern time:
Mark Parrish (C for the Wild so give some cred)
Erik Johnson (#1 overall and former Jag booster and AHA defenseman)
Okposo ( the st paul kid)
Zach Parise (Jag Booster, Shattuck Star)
Tyler Hirsch (Jag Booster, Shattack Star...tad crazy though)
Spehar (man from the north, left quite a footprint on HS hockey)
Ryan Flynn (Cenntennial Standout)
Jay Barriball (Centerpiece to the AHA era)
Peter Mueller (Another former Jag booster and shoulda been breck star)

What award do they give to the state's best goaltender?
Not including him on the list is like not including Hobey Baker on the list of greatest college players.
Answer: Frank Brimsek, Eveleth

Which Rasmussen is this? Drew Rasmussen played for Cloquet when Langenbrunner was there. Now he coaches my kids in Little Falls.

I am sure it is Erik, the professional player who was with the Devils...

Yes. I was also thinking SLP alum Erik Rasmussen.
If I did a bunch of research, I imagine I would want to make a couple of changes, but this is an excellent list, I think.

O ya he must be, considering he is the captain of the Devils.

how is a guy like Johnny Pohl not mentioned yet...all time High School Scoring leader. Aaron Broten has the single season scoring record, although many think Mayasich would if all his statistics were recorded. Also I think that Gino Guyer may have been one of the state's greatest high school players as well

Housley was the best I've seen.

most of you must not have seen who started this thread!! The obvious answer is the 2000's.. Because that is when Lehrke from Park is playing. Right Sioux recruit.

Kilpatrick is overstating it a bit, don't you think? The greatest player Minnesota has ever produced?
He was a good player, but after this season is over, I don't know that we'll hear much from him again. He'll play somewhere, but I don't think we'll ever be regaling each other with stories from "The Legend of Jimmy Kilpatrick" in 20 years. Heck, I don't know that Jimmy's really making a "killing"
now. He's doing ok now that he's healthy, but still nothing that is making people drop jaws.
