I know, I know best of list are arbitrary, biased, and juvenile. But they are also intereseting, and kinda fun. And in America we love lists. So this will be my attempt at a series of lists ranking different aspects of D8 Peewee A hockey. No disrespect to others, I am just more familiar with this district.
Every so often I will provide one or two list items, that I would like all to respond to with rankings (Fred61, your input would be greatly appreciated). I am looking for the top three in each catagory, ranking them in order will be necessary as I will take the rankings and assign them value (1st ranked being worth three points, 2nd worth two points, and 3rd being worth 1 points) The one with the most collective points will be the winner, 2nd...and so on.
Feel free to simply rank, or include reasons why you ranked the way you did. If you are going to use names, please also include numbers, as I do not know many players names.
This installment will be two fold;

THE BEST FORWARD LINE
Eagan 1st line
Woodbury 1st line
Lakeville South 1st line

THE BEST FORWARD
#6 Sibley/West St. Paul .....Threat to score everytime on the ice
#7 Lakeville South.....Speed kills
#9 Woodbury.............Sees the ice better than anyone at this level

Allright, run with it!!

Number 7 for Lekeville South is a very good player. To be one of the best forwards though, I would think the player needs to pass the puck. Number 7 attempts to do to much by himself.......if he passed the puck he would make his team that much better.......and if he doesn't pass the puck, it will be short tourney run for South. South also has some other very skilled players (#6, 9, 10, 15) plus 2 very solid goaltenders....

#7 from South will round out his game in Bantams. Still is a pretty good peewee though, but he'll probably follow the tradition with Lakeville South players and take off for the Fire next year.

Not all the good South Bantam players have bolted. Justin Kloos is and has been a force when on the ice even as a first year Bantom. Joe Freemark is a strong first year Bantom defenseman who also has stayed with South.

I do agree that Hastings #11 is a very good player, and I also know that players tend to move around positiions on the ice, I would place him (based on the games I have seen) as a defenceman, as that is where he played the majority of the time.

The best forwards are
# 7 Lakeville South the game I saw him play he had 2 goals and 2 assests and dominated the ice, won't find a harder worker
#9 Woodbury smartest player I've seen very good skills
#6 West St Paul good size and skill great scoring touch
The best Defense are
# 11 Hastings strong skater with good hands and good two way player
# 9 Lakeville South very solid all around player
# 10 Lakeville South seems to be playing forward this year but last year was a very good Defenseman he should go back to D

tradition? Three players bolt this year for the first time ever and now its a tradition. How about kids choosing to stay and starting their own tradition at south.....what a concept

This installment of the Best of...D8 PWA is again twofold;

Biggest Hitter
#18 Woodbury...........Big kid, takes some "size" penalties
#11 Hastings.....Seems to forget about the puck when angry, but hits hard
#19 Eagan.......Again, bigger kid, good hitter

Hardest Shot
#11 Hastings.......has got an absolute cannon
#17 Eagan.........big shot, quick release
#10 Hudson......Nice shot, should use it more

District 8 players for each Team.


Woodbury # 9 is a great player and hard to put a hit on.



Lakeville South # 7 is my Favorite player to watch he can get up the ice fast. Everyone wants to pick on the Kid for not passing, I have seen many games and if you are open he will get it to you. Otherwise get the rebound if he misses.


Sibley # 6 is as fast as any kid in the league. Needs to to work a little harder to help his team against the better competition.


I will keep the top 3 players

CoachJ, I agree Lakeville South #7 is the most exciting to watch, he see's the ice incredibly well and is a great passer. I have seen him make great 2 on 1 scoring pases and some unbealievable out of nowhere passes others would never see to make, and his linemates #5 and #6 are also great players, they seem to be coming together at the right time. When you have 3 great players with that much talent it can take awhile to gell. If they keep moving the puck like they did vs Sibily, watch out!

As for Woodbury's top line with #9 they are equally talented, and only Lakeville South's # 1 line has been able to show much scoring threat from the games I have seen.

Eagan may not have as dynamic a line as Lakeville South or Woodbury but they have 3 lines that can all get it done and they are probably the most balanced of the bunch.
