Burnsville

I hate to say it, but after a solid performance verse jefferson, i think the burnsville blaze are back. With a relatively easy schedule in the second half of the year, burnsville can start getting momentum. With Chad Mcduff and Lane Gustavson coming back in a few days, and goalie taylor stulaugson back on the team, the blaze are back.
Lets hear some criticism

Yeah, they were the clearly the better team for the first 2 periods. The only criticism I have is after they took the 3-1 lead in the 3rd, they started taking stupid penalties that let Jefferson back into the game. If they can keep their heads and stay out of the box, I wouldn't be surprised to see them win their section.

I dont really have any criticism but I wouldnt say they have an easy schedule the rest of the way. They still play every other team in the Lake once (other than Jefferson now). And thats definatly not easy. I see what your saying though because they have no more games like Edina but the Lake is def the toughest conference to play in this year.
They need some kids to do what Barnes and Hendo did last year because everyone keys on those two and good teams can shut them down.
Getting McDuff back is big because he is there best D but getting Sturlagson back shouldnt change anything because he probably wont get a chance to play.

I heard macduff had some grade problems but why was sturlaugson off the team?

i believe it was some personal reasons but he missed 5 games i think. Scott ames is also back from a bout with mono.

It wasn't until the last third or so of the season the Blaze started playing good last year, and nothings better then being hot going into the playoffs. But B'ville is in, arguably, the toughest section in the state now and I don't know if they have the goal tending nor the depth to make it to St. Paul.

i think they'll be fine as long as they play as a team and dont worry about personal points and they also need their players to stay out of trouble off the ice which they've had some problems with this season.....grades and drugs

He is a very good goalie. Hopefully he can get the other part of his life back in order.

Very talented team, but i don't think we're gonna see a repeat of their run like last year to make it all the way to state......but we'll see if they prove us wrong

Getting these players back will make a big difference for Burnsville the rest of the way as well as the top guys getting into stride (like hendo, comstock against Jeff)
But posters should also try to be informed before they post rumors on this sight...
McDuff had some issues in his life that affected school eligibilityetc..
But he's a good kid who hopefully has things back on track because his presence on D is sorely missed
Gustavson as well had some school issues but his returning senior experiance will help in a big way.
Sturlaugson did not get a DUI, and he never has had a DUI, this was his first violation and he has served his penalty and is back and eligible. As far as him getting a chance to play again that will probably depend on how well Becker keeps playing
Also B ville has been missing Ames whos been out with MONO..hopefully he will return soon as well
Stats for these players
McDuff in 3 games - 1 goal 5 helpers
Gustavson in 3 games - 3 goals 1 helper
Ames in 5 games - 2 goals 4 helpers
Sturlaugson in 4 games - 4 wins 2.00GA and 92%SP
If all of these guys return...their stats say they should be valuable contributors
These issues are the same problems facing all high schools and teens in general we just hear more about them because of places like this sight.
These problems are best handled by the parents, players and coaches involved and people should really remember that before they post unverified info.

What?

Burnsville was not performing how the players thought they would be. Example: coming into the season ranked 6th in the state and off a state tournament run last year, most players were expecting the team to score 5-6 goals a game. Didnt happen, and that led to pissed off players

Sounds like there is a lot of matuerity on this squad.

How would you know what the Burnsville players are feeling? You're supposedly an Eagan fan.

not getting 5 or 6 goals a game is no excuse to not go to school or get caught with pot

i dont think burnsville ever was bad this season. Just inconsistent

I'd say Burnsville is one of the top teams in the state talent wise. There discipline will cause them to fall in the end.

team is starting to pull together, with a blow out against lakeville north. First line of perisic-hendo-barnes is starting to click.

B'ville has a relatively easy couple of games coming up with south, valley, and eagan but after that they still have EP eastview and the irish to play to finish off the year so we'll see how they respond......
