Not the prettiest, apparently, but wins are wins. Teams that play day games after night games often come out a bit flat and tired, so I'd speculate that's what happened to East today. At least no damage was done and they can roll on into some big games next week against Forest Lake, Blaine, and Edina. Mission accomplished for this week.

As always, info. on shots and scoring would be appreciated.

I wouldn't say they came out flat at all. I believe the shots were 20-12 in favor of east in the first period. Yaggy played a heck of a game and gave his team a chance to pull it out.

I suppose I can give the other team a little credit. :D

When I watched the last game of the Schwan Cup against Centennial, playing for the third day in a row, East didn't have any problems piling up shots on goal, they just weren't scoring. Their passing was just a bit off. I'm guessing the fatigue affects faster-paced, precision-passing teams much more than others. This has been a trend with East this year, though.

Duluth East absolutely dominated the 1st period. The shots were 20-5 after one, but Mayo was winning 1-0. Both of East's goals happened when they got forwards behind Mayo's D.

Yaggy played fantastic - maybe he will be back in stride after a spotty performance against Century.

The 2nd and 3rd periods proved that Mayo can play with top teams when they play (do I sound like Denny Green of the Vikings yet?)
Mayo actually outshot the Hounds in the 3rd and really had the tempo going. The Hounds do so many nice things - I love watching their puck movement on the PP.

If Mayo could figure out how to play 51 minutes and stop having letdowns, they could make some noise.

thats half right, as far as i know, east has only been playing one defensemen short.
its junior d jake williams, he came out with a shoulder injury during the 3rd period of the game east played versus denfeld.
the next day i heard from one of his teammates that he would be out for 2-3 weeks.
Coach randolph's answer to this has been either rotating 5 defensemen and i believe he's brought up a defenseman from the j.v. just in case

Joe Arbour was also missing for the hounds.
