Elk River @ Anoka 1/24

I heard Anoka is in sole posession of first place in the NWSC standings, hence the pressure is on them to win out the rest of their conference games. Does anyone think the Elks have a chance to pull off an upset? I believe Anoka shut out the Elks 4-0 in Elk River the first meeting this year.

The Elkies will pull out the stops. Not sure what that equals in terms of W/L, but yeah.
I'm still going with a W.

I'll pander here too
Elks win in OT on some sort of controversial call that will result in a new topic ripping the refereeing or the riot that ensues.

Come on guys lets get serious. The Rebels beat AR 6-1, there is no way they are going to upset the Tornadoes.

Anoka by 5.
Anoka gets #1 seed in Section 7AA.
Anoka loses to Grand Rapids in section finals.
Grand Rapids pulls an upset or two and loses to Edina in the state championship.
Ho-hum, same thing year in and year out.

Are there any Anoka fans on this board? It would be an unusual scene at the DECC to have a 7AA final and the building only half full because of Anoka being in it.

EREmpire...glad to see you pop you head up...tell me...your lack of commentary this past season regarding your favorite team...does this result from you being...
A) Really busy with school
B) In Prison (with no internet access)
c) In the Witness Protection Program
D) Too depressed to comment due to the end of open enrollment

It will be a tough game for Anoka...and while ER certainly has a shot at pulling an upset...the confidence gained by Anoka in wins over Blaine & Centennial is huge regarding bringing the team together... from top to bottom...so opponents shouldn't hold out much hope that Anoka will implode in the future.
ER did beat Duluth East in ER's home rink in January...but this game will be played at Anoka's rink. Suffice it to say...it should be a fun game to watch.

Anyone have any info on the last time ER won in Anoka? The last couple years that I've seen, Anoka has handled ER easily when playing at home.

ER beat Anoka at Anoka last year 3-1...led by Seniors Brandon Brodhog, Brandon Martel, Chris Skavik and Tony Siebert...and Tony was a true ER Association player

You almost had it right Elliott except for the State title. Rapids beats Edina in the Semi's and then they will beat Roseau in the finals for a Re-match!!!!!! Gotta love State hockey!!!

And DE coughed up a 3-0 lead vs. ER and lost 5-3...so I guess every team has an off game...even your beloved Hounds!
I do think DE is a formidable team...largely due to their depth at Defense.. Forbert and McLean are their best D pairing... in my estimation.
Joe Arbour is also very good...and the other 3 D are solid.
Anoka and DE will meet again at the DECC...
PS: Lucia and Eades attended the DE vs. ER game....who do you think they were their to scout??? The answer is
Fobert

Not at all. My memory just is bad. Are you sure they tied in 03? Whatever year it was that Anoka won state, I think 03, they beat ER pretty badly something like 6-3 (in Anoka) or worse? I guess that one game just stuck in my head.
