I know I should know this, but is there a printable list of teams in each section? It would be nice to see who's where come playoff and state tourney time.

MSHSL has it as well as minnesota-scores.net.

Use the right half under the following link to pick your section/class and then click on "Show Standings". Some of the results are not up to date, but at least you will see the teams for each section.

If you are looking for standings by section, this might be the most acurate, http://www.minnesota-scores.net./classs ... 10&class=3. You can also look by conference.

So I copied this from the site for 4AA with the rankings on the site....is this really the standings and how pairings would work or do coaches vote and set brackets?

The QRF rankings have nothing to do with the section rankings. I would guess many coaches have never even heard of or know about the QRF. They rank teams based on wins/losses, strength of schedule, head to head competition and common opponents. I would guess in most sections the majority of the teams are not too difficult to rank. It is usually only one or two spots that are up for grabs.

I have heard that they take all these factors in to account, a teams record vs section apponants, head to head with in the section, SOS, and over all records, some what in that order. They then have a ranking commitee meeting made up of the coaches from their section, and hash out who belongs where. QRF most likely has nothing to do with it. So I guess one could take what QRF has, draw your own conclusions. Nothing is set until the section seating meetings either way.

The coaches do not have a meeting, at least not in 4AA. It is all done by email.

How would you vote?

The #1 and #2 teams in the section split (wins) during the season. Team #1 played all their sectional opponents and ended up tieing one of them. Team #2 didn't play two of their sectional opponents. Lets say:
Team #1 is 7-1-1
Team #2 is 6-1-0

Do you give the #2 team the top seed spot because of the sectional tie by #1 or would you jump to common opponents win-loss and SOS to determine the #1 seed. Or if you were the coaches of the two teams that #2 didn't play, would you vote against #2 because they wouldn't schedule head to head games with your team and give #1 the top seed?

In section 4AA I would give Stillwater the top seed and Roseville #2 but this seed could go either way with no real complaints from anyone. White Bear would get the #3 based on recent victories over good competition. Hill would get the #4 because of a great record and somewhat questionable competition. Cretin would be #5 with North St. Paul #6. After that you could draw names out of a hat because none of the remaining teams had real solid seasons but could put togeather a winning streak.

Conferences have nothing to do with sections. Conferences have very little to do with much of anything other than bragging rights.

That game doesnt matter either way. From what I have heard the section gets seeded early this week

If they can seed the teams with just one meeting or a conference call, why can't they just wait until the regular season is over? Obviously if the two teams are very close, a final head-to-head game should be the tiebreaker as to who gets the No. 1 seed.

Yea. Their meeting is on Wednesday in Hinckley

Section pairings are now being posted on the MSHSL website. Section 4A pairings came out over the weekend

It always amazes me that people can figure out how to find this site and make posts but can't go to Google and search on mshsl and get the info.
