If you all want to see a great freshman goaltender. Come to Wakota Arena, Tuesday 1/29 when SSP takes on Park of Cottage Grove at 7:30 and it's Adam Wilcox's turn in nets. Wilcox is the #1 goalie with the Senior Dan Rothe the #2 tender, but they switch off every other game.
Also, Adam Wilcox is Alex Stalocks cousin. I'm sure you all know who Alex Stalock is, UMD tender. Adam is the exact same goalie.

How can there be a #1 and a #2 when they switch off every other game?

By watching them play and I have knowledge on the subject. Rothe plays every other game because he is a senior. Watch for one goalie to be playing in February and through sections. Take a guess who that will be? The kid that I said is #1.

Do you know if there will be advance tickets for this game? I'd hate to get turned away at the door for this big event.

I heard the Wilcox's were moving to Maplewood. Any truth?

I saw him play against Cloquet earlier this year. He played very well...
I was surprised to see he was only a freshman.

Well, that's why I wanna make sure I see this kid play. If he is all that, we think he will look better better in green next year. Given the housing situation, there should be no problem securing a house in Maplewood to assist in the transfer rule.

The only thing that looks good in green is Rolling Rock.

He's a good goalie, but Stalock's style is one of a kind, so I wouldnt say they are the same.

I doubt it. SSP rarely loses kids and actually draws a few each year from other communities.

I haven't heard anything about him moving to Maplewood. I thought I heard he might go to Hill before this season started but they decided against that.
Also, Hill Murray won't see Wilcox on Thursday because it's Rothe's turn in nets. If it's a blowout by Hill, you might see the freshman.

dubCHAguy,
They grew up playing the same style of hockey with the goalie advancing the puck. He's not as good as his cousin, obviously, but same style. In the youth program, he was very active in playing the puck, at the HS level, you rarely see it. Not sure why, maybe because he's a freshman.

Boy, Hill catches a huge break by not seeing the freshman sensation. Lech will have to alter his preparation now though. You see, he has been using two goalies in the same net for the kids to shoot on to simulate what it would be like to try to score on this guy.......Wilson?? Not sure what Hill did to deserve this break, but they'll take it!

Damn right I am mad! Us Pioneers are not used to losing out in a bidding war for our recruits. When we want someone of Wilson's talent, we usually make every effort to secure the player & are usually quite successful in attaining their services. We thought the standard offer of free tuition would suffice, but not this kid. So we then upped the offer by including a set of wheels to make his commute a little more enjoyable. Not enough. This kid played hardball. So then the offer of a home of his choice, wherever, and a guarenteed full ride college scholarship (also standard) but he turned us down again. We had enough. So all we can do is hope he struggles (which obviously isn't happening) & just try to make due with whats left over. You can't blame us for feeling this way or for dreaming about what would have been.......

Well PPG, it looks like he took his two fire rubbing sticks and went home. Pity.

Nope, still here. How can you take a thread and twist it. Good work. I mention a player and you go crazy. Way to support Minnesota hockey.

You might want to be careful throwing the "R" word around....
How many kids in the old Maroon and white are from Inver Grove Heights? Rothe is ....
How did they get there? Cough, MR. Moen, Cough........

PioneerPrideGuy,
Answer this, where were you as a freshman? Did you play HS hockey or just a fan that was bitter that you didn't make the Hill team? What's your beef with everyone in here. I see you attacking everyones threads. Whats the deal with you?
How many freshmen actually make difference on a varsity team? I can't think of many besides the STA Schroeder. There are only a handful of kids that make an impact as a freshman, it's to bad that you find it necessary to attack this thread.

Your kidding right? You think Moen recruits kids. Now that is funny. Half the kids on SSP live or grew up playing youth hockey for IGH. However, they play for SSPHS because they don't like the IGH coach and there is no tradition at Simley HS. I wouldn't call that recruiting. SSP doesn't have kids from Maplewood, Prior Lake, Lakeville, White Bear Lake, Rochester.
However, Wilcox was visited by the STA coach at many of his bantam games. Show me a time when Moen has talked to any youth kids that weren't already in the SSP program?

Lets see... SSP takes on Park. You want us to watch a freshman goalie whose going to make 5 saves for a shutout
against a team that has scored 3 goals in the last 7 games. Not a very good way to showcase his talents, I'm sure you'll agree.
We weren't making fun of Adam here Cabela, we were making fun of you.
