All of the Duluth area schools have closed, so I'm guessing any games in Duluth are cancelled as well. This includes: Duluth Marshall, East, Denfeld, Central, Hermantown, Proctor, Two Harbors, Silver Bay, and Superior.

We have confirmations of the cancellations of East-Superior and Marshall-CDH, and presumably any other NE MN school that has the day off.

Which is a bit odd, because hasn't snowed at all here and the temp is still above zero. Not complaining, though. :D

The temp's been dropping like a rock, and they're forecasting -40ish wind chills by the end of the school day. Erring on the side of caution, they probably thought it was best to cancel.

I don't know. Haven't spoken to Dr. Dixon, so I don't know everything that went into his decision.

It's -30 wind chill here and I still have to make my half hour walk to class. Funny how that works.

No word on Proctor @ Virginia yet, but Bemidji @ Hermantown is still a go for tonight at 7:30. All the games involving Duluth schools have been cancelled or postponed.

I believe Duluth schools were cancelled because of icy streets. Not looking good for any games tomorrow either. COLD

I heard I-35 south of the cities has been closed due to zero visability.

CORRECTION

Cloquet/Denfeld varsity rescheduled for Saturday at 5:15. The JV game will be rescheduled later.

My apologies for the earlier boo-boo.

Oh, and FYI I was told that schools were closed mainly in anticipation of this cold weather. The wind chills this afternoon are supposed to reach levels where - if it were the morning hours - schools would be closed because of the cold. The icy roads in many areas contributed but were probably not the sole factor.

A philosophy of "We wouldn't let kids go to school in this weather, so we shouldn't let them go home from school in it, either" is defensible, IMHO.

It also helps that very few, if any, of the districts in NE Minnesota have had to use their snow days to this point. The bad weather has been confined to weekends and holidays so far.

I remember walking to classes at MSU in weather like that, but that was when men where men, and sheep were scared of the men at NDSU
