After tonight I think they should go something like this:

1. Warroad (by a thread)
2. EGF (proved something tonight)
3. Park Rapids (could have proved something tonight)
4. Bemidji (who knows)
5. TRF (can be really good)
6. Hallock (earned it tonight)
7. Crookston (looked bad to start, and ended that way)
8. Lake of the Woods (better as time goes on)
9. Red Lake Falls (just not enough)
10. Bagley (they are winners or ist hat winner)
11. Walker (got to start somewhere)

The top 3 could be a bit different.....maybe EGF 3....Warroad like 2..then PR 1?....

I'd like to see Park Rapids be #1. Put them there based on their record, see if they can deal with the pressure. That is assuming they don't lose of course.

1. Warroad
2. EGF
3. Park Rapids
4. Bemidji
5. TRF
6. Kittson Central, very good win last evening
7. LOW, was the road team in the 5-5 tie with Crx, they get the #7
8. Crookston, Number 8 '08 YES: It Can Happen
9. RLF
10. Bagley
11. Walker

I'd be willing to move PR up to #2 if they can really lay the lumber to RLF, Crox, and KC down the stretch.

EGF has really tatooed the botttom tier this year. 8-0 over KC, 9-1 over LOW, 7-0 over Crx, 10-2 over RLF.

1. Warroad
2. EGF

Park Rapids
Bemidji
TRF
#3 is up for grabs

Kittson Central
and maybe #4 & #5.

7. LOW
8. Crookston
9. RLF
10. Bagley
11. Walker

Boy, TRF and Bemidji have something to shoot for now.
PR is not out of #3 but this loss hurts ore than a DL or Mora loss.
Hallock may have a shot at #4 if everything were to fall just right.

Makes for exciting finish to the regular season.

Elliot.

Although PR lost tonight they are still 20-1.

You keep giving the #2 to EGF but EGF has not done anything that impressive this year.

I think you still have to give PR the benefit of the doubt that they just had a bad night. From a EGF alumnus, I still believe, at this point, that PR gets the #2 seed.

This can only change if EGF does well in the next 3 games against Warroad, Crookston, and TRF.

Unless Park Rapids loses more games...like to Crookston. :o They should get the number two seed because they did in fact beat TRF and EGF. :? So now the number three seed is huge because they will get a shot at PR in semi's, if that team and/or PR don't lose.

scenarios:

Bemidji gets #3 if they beat TRF and TRF beats EGF.
TRF gets #3 seed if they beat Bemidji then beat EGF, both games on the road.
EGF gets the #3 seed by just beating TRF at home.

That's the way I would do it, but who knows what these coaches can cook up.

Standings as of now:

1. Warroad
2. Park Rapids
3. East Grand Forks
4. Bemidji
5. Thief River Falls
6. Kittson Central
7. Crookston
8. Lake of the Woods
9. Red Lake Falls
10. Bagley
11. Walker

When it's all said and done, will the coaches after tonight's KC game, a controversial win over EGF, close wins over a terrible RLF team, a horrid schedule, and not a single win over a top 20 team be able to rank them number two? We'll have to wait and see. :D

If EGF wins against Crookston & TRF, they are #2.

But it is not my benefit of the doubt...
If you are the Hallock coach and you just got walloped by EGF and teh go to PR and get a win...
Who do you give the second spot to?
EGF would carry the logic there...
Again, I like Lehrke and Knapp and Winkler and their families...
I like Tolle at D...
I think they have a nice team...
I think EGF is better and I am pretty sure most of the coaches do also.

Great story to see PR go to the X, great for their program, also a boost for Walker and Bagley and RLF and Hallock....
but I don't see it happening...
EGF or maybe TRF can knock Warraod off...

Personally, as some one that goes to the afternnon games on friday and Saturday...
I wish I would be cheering for PR there, but I know Warroad can get there...
I would love to see The Falls and Warraod on Saturday afternoon or at least Friday afternoon.

Of course, I am still cheering for the jax, too.

And that is what the coaches will ask themselves...

Who is the best team?

A win over Duluth Marshall (plus section wins).
It has to be Warroad.

Who is second best?
Do you believe Park Rapids is second best?
I don't. I believe it is EGF.

Third best, fourth best etc...

But not all the games are in yet.
My opinion may very well change.
But tonight that is what I think, based on what has happened tonight and over the last couple of weeks.

But let's hope no one gets hurt and every one plays up to their abilities for the rest of the year.
Good luck to all of them, even newsguys' Bagley team.

Only way PR had a chance for the #2 seed (#1 was always out of the question) was if they could convince the rest of the coaches in 8a to vote for them and that will be impossible after tonight. Everyone can have a bad night but not PR against Kittson Central, especially on the heels of an unimpressive 5-2 win over RLF. Their biggest wins were against EGF & TRF which were far more important then than they are now. Besides the fact that those two would never vote anyone ahead of Warroad after losing to them (twice), it was doubtful BEFORE tonight that those coaches (or Bemidji & Warroad) would have voted PR #2 given their past and future battles with each other. Without the support of these teams and no immediate opportunity to beat a respectable opponent (aka: weak schedule) PR will drop to 4 or 5 now at best. Fair? Maybe not but realistically they had to run the table to impress enough voters to get 2 or 3. Bring on the section tourney!

SEC 8 SEEDINGS

THE WAY I SEE IT IS WARRAOD IS UNDISPUTEDLY #1.

IF TRF BEATS EGF AND BEMIDJI IN THEIR NEXT MEETINGS THEN THEY SHOULD BE #2. IF TRF LOSES TO EGF THEN EGF IS # 2 & IF TRF BEATS BEM THEN TRF COULD SEE A 4 SEED WITH PR GETTING #3 IF TRF LOOSES TO BOTH EGF AND BEM THEN THEY WOULD SEE A #5 SEED WITH EGF 2, PR 3 AND BEM #4. LOTS LEFT TO HAPPEN IN THE NEXT 2 WEEKS AND THE BIG GAMES ARE TRF VS EGF AND BEMIDJI. CAN TRF BEAT EGF AGAIN IN THE CIVIC CENTER??? THERE SEEMS TO ALWAYS BE UNIQUE BOUNCES THERE OFF THE BOARDS AND OFF THE OFFICIALS. (OF COURSE LOW COULD KNOCK TRF OFF TODAY WHICH MEANS WE WOULD TAKE EVERYTHING I JUST WROTE AND CRUMBLE IT UP AND SHOOT IT INTO THE BASKET FOR A 3 POINTER)

ALL 4 TEAMS STILL MUST BEAT THE TEAMS THAT THEY SHOULD BEAT ON PAPER THAT ARE LEFT ON THIER SCHEDULES.

AND THIS OF COURSE IS DEPENDING ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT WARROAD AND NOT KC WILL HAVE THE NUMBER 1 SEED. IF THE #1 SEED GOES TO KC THEN WE HAVE TO MOVE EVERYONE DOWN A NOTCH.

CONGRATS TO KC. A TEAM THAT NO ONE CAN TAKE FOR GRANTED. THROUGH THE YEARS THEY ALWAYS MIX SOMETHING UP.

And PR beat them by 5 or 6 last time, too. It's 1 game, if they finish out with only 1 loss I still see the #2 in their future...

He answers best to "suzy."
But anyway, i'm a bit disappointed the loss came so early. Its nothing against the players of PR, but i really wanted this deafening silence to come after a section game...

good for them...how did they do head to head against PR...head to head is the first thing they look at for the seedings.

Nice to see my old squad get the win last night. Keep up the good work KC. I had a feeling they could pull it off. Way to throw a wrench in the section seedings....makes the next couple weeks pretty interesting. 8)

Well, i'm not sure where that question came from, but i guess i was good enough to get a couple varsity letters from Warroad and play in a state championship game. But to be completely honest, Hockey wasn't my best sport. Any other questions?
