7A is a section with alot of great teams. Who will make it to the X?

I think it will be between Marshall and Falls, with falls taking it in a tight one.

I Falls' lack of a solid defense along with an untested, young goalie will hurt them in the playoffs. Tough to put on a streak against good teams without those two elements. Hibbing and DM have better of each but i think Falls will beat Hibbing in the Semi's. Marshall beats Virginia in other Semi's, and in the final DM heads off to the X in a 4-2 thriller.

Well I think it's pretty obvious at this point the 1 and 2 seeds will be I Falls and DM. Thus, they can only meet in the section final. It could honestly go either way but I Falls has the better top line and better goaltending as well. It's hard to just look past all other teams in the section, but these two teams would make for the best section final IMO.

the obvoius teams people would pick would be duluth marshall and i falls. probabaly the one and two seeds. but people may forget that hibbing is a playoff team. that is when they play there best hockey. and i think they will be doing the same come section time this year. also dont leave out virginia. one of the four teams mentioned will be playing at the x.. also greenway does have it in them to upset a team. dont think enough to actually get the state tourney. with all of this said. i think hibbing and duluth marshall will be at the Decc and i will make my prediciton who wins later on.

Yes IMO it has to be DM or I Falls, Looking at scores between teams up there, and then seeing that Princeton beat Virgina makes me wonder.

yes good point. i couldnt believe that priceton beat virginia. they must have had a bad game or something but if they play like that in sections it'll be a quick exit for the Blue Devils.. hibbing and virginia have a big game coming up tuesday in Virginia. So we'll see..

If Hibbing beats virginia that should give them the 3 seed. Which would mean Hibbing vs. Falls in the semi final. Hibbing proved they can play with anybody beating Falls earlier. The Broncos dont have much d like Hibbing but Sandstrom of Hibbing has been awesome and Falls has young goalies. Jackets vs. Toppers at the DECC.

Duluth Marshall.. They have two solid goalies, good depth, and scoring. I've seen them play a couple times against high quality teams and they are tough to stop. Not unbeatable by any means but its going to take a good performance to beat them.

A little off topic, but who should get the first seed in your opinion? Marshal, or International Falls?

Marshall gets it. They beat Hibbing, International Falls did not. It comes down to that, plain and simple. They both have wins against everybody else in common and in the section.

i-fall beat hibbing earlierin the season 4-2 i believe

I worded that wrong. Marshall did not lose to Hibbing, I Falls did. That is what I meant to say. I Falls did win the first matchup with Hibbing, but both games count. That puts a blemish on the Broncos record that Marshall does not have.

i believe most people agree that DM should het the one seed. falls taking the second. with the winner of the Hibbing Virginia game tuesday taking the third seed and fourth going to the loser of that game. like i siad in an earlier post i think Hibbing and Dm will be playing at the Decc and i still think that is going to happen. if everything pans out the right way. the top four seeds will go to the semis. only team i can see upsetting anyone is greenway and after what hibbing did to them last week i really dont see that happening but anything is possible haha. but for my final prediction i have to go with Duluth Marshall. i just think they are the best team in the section. a little sceptical after them losing to superior but still Duluth Marshall takes the section.

Why is everyone so quick to put DM as the 1 seed. They've only played 5 7A teams. I do believe they've played the tougher schedule, but then why isn't Two Harbors the 4 seed. They have a 5-4 section record. Better than Hibbing and Greenway. Will the meltdown in Warroad hurt DM at all, allowing 2 goals in the final 16 seconds and another in OT. Or, would a win vs. Roseau bump The Falls ahead of DM. Sorry, off the topic a bit. Falls vs DM in the finals. First time ever, after 6 OT's, they'll call it a tie and allow both to the X and leave section 3 out.

TH lost to Greenway. They play a pretty easy schedule and get blown out when they play against good teams. 4 vs. 5 seed; it does not matter much when you look at the playoff bracket. Except for being the home team.

Tougher schedule. No. Maybe get familiar with MN Hock ps2.

Since when has the IRC been one of the better conferences in the state? It has one good AA team and a couple decent single A teams. Not really top of the line in my opinion. Marshall will be one, Falls two.

Actually, when you compare the IRC with some of the other conferences out there, it is definitely among the better ones. Not the best - by far, but there are many, many that are far worse in the state. After all, the lone AA team, Grand Rapids, has made it to the state finals twice and in both of those years, they did not win the IRC title outright. As a matter of fact, it has happened more often than not that a team that doesn't win the conference ends up at the state tournament. It may be small, but the top three (sometimes four) are usually ranked teams. There are only a few metro area conferences and the Mariucci that are consistently deeper. Year-in and year-out, of the 20 conferences in this state at least a dozen are far weaker than the IRC and 3-4 are comparable. There are only 4-5 that are consistently stronger. Winning the IRC is still no small feat.

Hibbing should have locked up the 3 seed with the win in Virginia tonight.
