ALS Blackwoods Blizzard Tour

The 9th Annual Blackwoods Blizzard Tour wrapped up Saturday night in Proctor. Almost 140 riders participated this year, which is the biggest number yet. They raise a minimum of $900, which goes to the fight against ALS and Northland patients who are suffering from the disease. Many people ride in honor of loved ones lost, to ALS.
Some of Minnesota's sports stars came back again for the fun. Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire, former players Kent Hrbek and Terry Steinbach, and Twins hitting coach Joe Vavra all came up for ride. Former Olympic Gold and Bronze medalist Rulon Gardner was also present. The almost 400 mile event takes the group from Proctor, to Hoyt Lakes, Lake Vermilion, Two Harbors, and then back to Proctor. The goal was to raise $500,000 this year, and was met with a total of $505,000. Thanks to all of those who participated and donated to a great cause
