Does Washburn have more than one goalie? The one we played against stopped like forty quality shots, he was pretty good.

Is there no Johnson team in "A" Pee Wee's this year. They went to the regionals the last two years.

1. Minneapolis Park is a well coached juggernaut in D1 right now. They are playing their best at the right time. This might have been a top 20 if they hadn't lost a stud goalie to the WI Fire
2. Irondale is another solid squad, they play well and swarm the puck
3. Highland has shown flashes of brilliance, when they are on they are tough, but if they are off ....
4. Washburn is scrappy squad that plays games through to the end.
5. Como comes to play every game and have beaten Washburn twice and tied Irondale twice also. A real nice team
6. Johnson is probably the scariest team in this tourney. Tough and well coached. don't take them lightly.
I expect there to be at least 1 surprise team in regions out of this group.

Washburn has two goalies - both good. One first year and one a second year. They rotate games.

Wow what a great deal for the goaltender to have a chance to be able
to play at the Tier 1 level. That is really nice to see that he has a chance
to play with whoever he feels is best for his development. I need not say
anymore than he clearly made a very wise and well educated CHOICE...
So good for the Kid after all that is suppose to be what it is all about.

CTbrow1,
Are you kidding? That number 6 team (Johnson) is one of the worst "A" pee wee teams in the state. That team has only won 3 games. Check out
WWW.MNhockeyrankings.com
People say I'm negative but check this team from Johnson out and you be the judge. I am smarter than a 5th grader.

No chance.

None. D1 is hurtin for certain. Mpls. Park might win a game or two in regional play, but they are the only team from District 1 that has any business moving on from district play. None of the other D1 teams would have advanced from round one of District 6 which they will face in the regions. It's Chaska, EP and Edina battling it out this weekend for D6 seedings and it will be the same three knocking heads two weeks from now @ Chaska with a state tourney bid @ stake.

Yep you have it all figured out. Mpls Park will not do anything...just look at last years B1 team (never ranked and took 3rd...any team can move on...thats why you play the game!)

Como 5
Washburn 3
Johnson 2
Highland 5
Matchups tomorrow...
Minneapolis Park vs. Como at 5:20pm
Irondale vs. Highland at 7pm
Recap:
Johnson put a scare into Highland tonight with their never say die attitude. Highland finished the game off with 2 empty net goals. In the early game, Como and Washburn played an intense battle that seesawed before #15 on Como took over.
Promo:
Como takes on Minneapolis Park at 5:20. If Como can get #15 free they could have a chance at the upset. Later, Highland and Irondale play in what should be another slobberknocker. These teams have played intense hockey the 3 times they have met this season.

I overheard some people talking in the lobby at Biff Adams arena yesterday, Is it true that the big kid from our Irondale "A" Pee Wee team is no longer on the team.

I've heard some crazy rumor stories involving a couple of players from that team and some actions that may have occurred at a tournament. However, these are only rumors and at this point I have no way of knowing the facts or potential repercussions.

Minneapolis Park 7
Como 2
Como came into the game missing their top player. #15 was ill and could not play in the game. This put Como at a serious disadvantage. To their credit they came to play and pushed Minneapolis Park to the limit. Minneapolis Park using their advantage compromised Como again and again.
Irondale 5
Highland 7
Irondale VS. Highland was a throw down waiting to happen. Highland came out firing, playing physical pushing Irondale to their limits. At the end of 1 period Irondale was up 3-2. With ice resurfaced and ready to go, Highland buried 2 goals. 15 seconds before the end of the second period, Irondale scored to tie the game at 4. Highland came out of the break and buried 3 goals in 2:25 to lead 7-4. Highland withstained a furious burage from Irondale and pulled out the upset 7-5.
The top 3 teams that come out of District 1, if they play to their potential have the ability to push ANY team in the state.
