I'm asking in all honesty because I haven't seen too many teams from this section this season, but on the surface, this looks like it's going to be fairly wide open, no? Anybody from 1-6 may have a realistic shot.

I'll agree with you, Gov. East has been the hottest of late, as they usually are at the end of the season, but Cloquet and Superior gave them fits the last couple of games.(East on top 2-1 & 3-2 in those games) No team in the section has really stood out as a major front runner this season. GR & Cloquet tied in their first meeting, then Rapids handled them pretty well in the rematch. East overwhelmed GR in their only meeting, but has looked sluggish against others in the section. Anoka seems to be up and down as well, and the same for Elk River. Flake and Andover are another Jekyl and Hyde type of team. Two years ago in the Section quarters, Andover held GR scoreless for two periods before faltering in the 3rd. Early this season, Flake upended GR in ot despite being outshot by plenty. The only given should come in the quarter finals when East will play either Cambridge or St. Francis. Other than that, roll the dice and hope you come up lucky. Makes for some great theatre though.

I would guess. I believe it starts around 6:30. Should be no major arguements when it comes to the top 4 seeds. #1 & #2 should be clearly defined, #3 & #4 you could draw from a hat, after that, get out the dart board.

Neutron, as I see it your right on with the section breakdown. I will go one further with 1st round game winner predictions.
PLay in game Cambridge over St Francis 6 to 2
East over Cambridge 8 to 1
Anoka losses to Andover 3 to 2 in overtime
Grand Rapids losses to Forest Lake 4 to 2 open net to seal the deal
Cloquet over Elk River 4 to 3 in overtime
Good section with a lot of close games!!!!!!!!!!!

A modified version of Pairwise (used in College Hockey) results in the following seedings:
1. Duluth East
2. Anoka
3. Grand Rapids
4. Elk River
5. Cloquet
6. Forest Lake
7. Andover
8. Cambridge
9. St Francis
Which looks pretty close to the consensus here, other than the Elk River/Cloquet thing. Elk River got the edge over Cloquet by beating them in the HTH comparison. Those criteria are as follows:
1. Head to head-award one point for each win.
2. RPI (which is what the college Pairwise calls it, I used PS2)-one point for higher PS2.
3. Common opponents-one point.
4. Games against TUC (Teams under consideration); I translate this to W/L pct against teams in the top half of the PS2 ratings (top 77 teams)-one point.
Elk River wins the common opponent criteria and the PS2 criteria. Cloquet wins the TUC criteria. 2 pts for Elk River, 1 pt for Cloquet.
In cases of a tie, PS2 breaks the tie. Surprisingly, there were no ties in the comparisons this season.
I don't know if the remaining games this week would result in any changes.
I've got last years's results somewhere in this spreadsheet mess. If I have time, I'll post them. FWIW.

East Looked "sluggish" against other teams in the section??? Not really...outshooting Elk River 50 to what 15 or something is sluggish??? Outplayed Rapids THERE, Anoka THERE, Goalie issues in Cloquet, not team...and played better than them at DECC...You haven't watched so don't use the word sluggish

Back off, putz! Was making an analagy, and I've watched East quite a few times this season. In
my opinion, they looked
sluggish against several teams this season. If you hadn't noticed, I did say they deserved the #1 seed in the section without question. If you've got a problem with that, tough! Tired of the
elite thinking it's their bored to run.
