Apple Valley is my prediction....tough to beat a team 3 times.

At the same time it's tough to play three overtime games in three nights.

I agree with Southernhockey, it's tough to beat a team 3 times. I wish I was there to watch. It's going to be a great game. It's too bad that the loser is out, but that's the way sport playoffs work. Sometimes it seems unfair. Good luck to both teams.

I think Edina will win. AV has played three overtime games in a row and they didn't have the same jump last night that they had against EP. Also, the reason they've played three overtimes games is they can't hold a lead. Against Tonka they let in a goal at the end of each period, they were up 3-1 over EP after the 2nd period and up 2-0 over BV after the 2nd period.

I thought the game may end up being one sided leaning toward Edina. I know if you put your best defensemen on #24 on AV you pretty much shut the whole system down. We did just that twice this year against them in tournaments and we wre successful.

Confirmed. Edina wins 8-2
Also - Chaska beats EP 4-3 in OT. I won't go into the messy details,
Hats off once again to Chaska!
EP plays Edina tomorrow at 6:00p

Messy Details?

Yeah - Unbelieveable amounts of penalty minutes - somewhere around 36 against EP. 22 in the second period. EP scored a goal and the ref didn't see it - EP hit the pipe twice.. Blah, Blah, Blah. Not taking anything away from Chaska - Like I said they did what they need to do and thats win the game - which is the only thing that matters, really.

The game was high intensity but a bit ugly. At one point in the second period, Edin Prarie had so many players in the sin bin that at least 1 skater had to stand during their penalty. Edin Prarie had a player in the box for over 3 minutes during a minor penalty........yet Edin Prarie had a player receive a 2+10 for hitting from behind with 11:40 to go in the second period and the player was back on the ice with 1:40 left to go in the period.......The refs stopped the game for a good 10 minutes explaining the penalties to the coaches and score/keepers. In the end, it was all screwed up.........Coaches and fans on both sides were not at all happy.........
The game should not even have went to overtime since Edin Prarie scored a goal, the puck gets cleared out by the goaltender from behind the goal line and the goal is disallowed by the ref who was not in position (near the blue line) to even get close to making the right call.......
Not a good night for the stripes........
But they got the "in the crease" call correct......about 12 times.......a skater even looking like their skate blade might touch the crease skating through was whistled.......
Both teams played hard and are very talented. Chaska is a lot smaller physically than either Edin Prarie or Edina but played physically for the entire game. District 6 will be well represented in the Regions and my prediction is that the two teams coming out of this Region to go to State will be 2 of these 3 teams.........

That is a sure sign that you have a bad ref. They will call numerous in the crease infractions, but miss the obvious, or call a penalty every time a kid falls.

From what I heard he is the head of District 6 refs. I do agree on 5 or 6 calls - but 17 against 1 team? Chaska had 5 or 6 against them. So 22 or 23 in a big game in the playoffs, I just was taken back a little bit. Nahc is right, EP couldn't even fit all the guys in the box.
Yeah - The "in the crease" calls were out of hand..But they don't see a obvious goal?

Refs should only make in the crease call if a goal is scored and the guy is in the crease...no goal, or if physical contact on goalie while in the crease occurs. Goalies don't mind if a guy is in the crease....because if they score it won't count. I have talked to many refs who don't call guys in the crease unless the above occurs. What you find is very few calls.

If EP had 17 penalties called against them (actually 15 or more).....
How will this affect the team, when the coach needs to "sit out their next game" Vs Edina?

good question. Anyone know?

The ref being referred to is Dave Kemp... he has been struggling over the last few years.
Stating that the two teams from regionals that advance to state will be probably be Chaska,Ep, or Edina isn't too bold..... I will say: zero percent chance that ANY team from the other districts have a chance to advance...zero.

EP had 10 penalties for 28 minutes (one 10 minute misconduct) so the coach doesn't have anything to worry about.

so who has the advantage tonight? EP or Edina?
