First off to avoid confrontation, I think they are great and i love their story and would be thrilled if they won again, but we all know how hard it is to repeat. Their lack of schedule will come back to haunt them while the daunting schedule of some of the metro powerhouses (and East) will do wonders come tourney time! Mark my words, either Edina or Minnetonka/BSM will be AA champs.

To play Devil's Advocate here...how come their schedule didn't stop them last year?

Last year they played a VERY good Moorhead team 3 times, and they had the element of surprise.

So three games against the #1 or #2 ranked team in the state doesn't make for a fairly decent schedule, just in itself. I say #2, because for the first meeting, Roseau was ranked #1.

I don't think this year's schedule is going to have that much of an impact come state tourney time. These are the same kids who played the tough schedule last year, filled the offseason with elite hockey opportunities, played some good teams this year, and have what no other team will have at the tourney; the experience of a championship season.

Last year it was supposed to be Hill-Murray or Edina and they both lost quarterfinal games, 3 of the 4 seeded teams lost. BTW how is BSM 's schedule harder than Roseau's? If they make it, they'll have played the easiest schedule of any team in AA.

yea benildes schedule isn't much better then roseau's but it is tougher they have played team(S) in the top ten

BSM schedule had HM, Shattuck, and Edina

Nothing against the Roseau kids per sey but some of us are flat out tired of hearing about "last year." We've basically been asked to continue to bow to the Ram greatness and ignore the fact that many city teams were putting together some very impressive squads this year and competing at a high level. In addition, some metro based individuals have had very solid years but as we try to discuss we continue to be told that "Lock it up - Ness is God." As we would champion our favorite city club, some flannel brain would chime in with the old and tired "we're the champs until someone beats us" garbage.

I'm looking forward to joining the party when they are defeated this year. Nothing against the Ro-so-so boys; only the flannel brain fans who have saddle sores because they rode one championship season way longer than should be humanly possible.

Well said the Roseau fans likely made a lot of people root against them come tourney time.

Don't be so quick to through all the "flannel brains" on the Roso bandwagon...

1. Roseau kids learn per se is spelled per se, not per sey.
2. Who is asking you to bow to anything? Are you easily that influenced by others?
3. In fact, the team that is the champs are the champs until they are no longer able to defend their championship. It was the same for CDH last year and other reigning champions of any season. In other words, who is the present high school hockey champion?
4. Don't use a semi-colon when it isn't necessary.
5. Lastly, you are sounding like you think you have been victimized. What are you the victim of? Do you think this little town of Roseau has been trampling on the collective opinion of the metro area? Thanks for the laugh.

P.S. I loved the riding the one season bit. You are also talking about a community who has been there before. It isn't like Roseau won't appreciate their season last year, but you will also not see this town ever act like any of their championships are an anomaly. Every season is approached as a championship season and there are no other AA team which can boast similar results.

Yeah, if Roseau plays Hill or Edina at state, I bet everyone will cheer for the rich suburban kids.......

i'd root for Roseau a million times before Edina or Hill. and im not a very big rams fan

Exactly. It wasn't like the Rams' schedule last year was significantly more difficult. Playing Moorhead a few times last year didn't make their overall schedule that much more impressive. Yet it didn;t seem to stop them from winning the title.

As far as surprising teams, I find that a bit hard to believe. When you make the state with a record like they had last year, you aren't exactly sneaking up on opponents at that point.

hey....whats wrong with the "little guy" winning in the Big class anyways.....They pulled it off last year......They'll do it again......And if they dont....well congrats to the Big Schools for beatin the "little" "underdog"

Doesn't scrimmaging the #1 team three times a week make you ready for tough competition, just a thought.

Did i really read that roseau surprised some teams?If your squad was surprised by how a roseau team would play regardless of the skill they might have on any squad you might want to check the qualifications of your coaching staff.That has to be one of the most ignorant statements ive read on this board and there been some good ones sometimes.

Whether Roseau wins State or not has nothing to do with scheduling. Go ahead and poo poo the schedule they have created, but keep a few things in mind:
1. They are scheduled to play conference games.
2. They need to play Section games.
3. They also travel as much (or more), that any other team in the state.
*If the quality of teams they are playing is "weaker" than those in the metro, I would think this would be slightly offset by the fact that the nearest team Roseau plays is Warroad, after that travel requires a minimum of 1 hour. Go ahead and place any of the metro powers on a school bus and travel as much as the Rams do. I would love to see the travel log time for teams such as Edina, Hill, or Minnetonka compared to the Rams. Then go ahead and tell me about your tough schedule. The tough road game where you had to travel 15 minutes.
