#8 JM takes on #9 Dodge County in a rematch of a game JM won 2-1 on Jan. 31. JM played all right against Mankato West and seems to have a problem with legs; they are competitive for about half a game against even the better teams before falling apart late. They were 0-0 with Mayo halfway through their last game, down only 3-1 to West and Century halfway through their games with them as well. They also gave up 5 to Owatonna in the first and 6 to Albert Lea in the first as well recently, but both those games were started by freshmen goaltenders, I'd bet Travis Johnson the senior plays from here on out, he's the one who played against West, Century, and Mayo. Dodge County hasn't played very well lately, only beating teams from 3A. They'll need Curtis Nelson to play very well to beat JM, he's capable of doing just that.

JM wins 4-2.

I think JM will win this game, too.

I think the only possibility for an "upset" in the Quarterfinals is the Mayo-Century game. We'll see what happens.

DC 4
JM 1

Dodge County played better than JM, JM went with a freshman in goal instead of the senior, whom had played very well recently, and he played like he should be in bantams. You could tell the seniors just didn't have that jump in their step and realized that JM was looking towards the future. A nice win for DC as they've had a tough season after all the hope of last year.

26-16 in favor of DC, 20 or so of those were on the ice from the blue line or beyond.

I feel for you Scott...you were one of the most prolific scorers in state history on arguably one of the best high school teams ever....Hope you get some decent players from RYHA over the next few years...oh wait, Captain Kirk, Todd, and Jack are coaching the North VFW(doesn't Captain Kirk's kid coach Lourdes)...hhmmmm, I wonder where all of those kids will end up playing over the coming years? Think about it you RYHA/Gill/Lampman/Zmolek/Schneider minions...get a friggin' clue!

Nice win for DC. Gives the team something positive to carry into the off season on an otherwise tough season.

Lakeville South should handle Dodge Country
Mayo vs Century- Whoever gets that lucky bounce late in the game wins
Owatonna should beat Winona
Lakeville North should beat Farmington

The only game that comes down to the wire should be Mayo-Century, but you never know.

1 AA chances at State based upon how the top 5 seeds fared vs. Top 20 teams:

Lakeville South & Mayo - If they face a Roseau or Edina in the forst round, dones-ville. If they face anybody else, they could pull an upset and/or possibly go 3 games in the consolation round.

Lakeville North, Owatonna, Century - Whoever they would play, they are 2 and out.

Whomever comes out of 1AA won't win the whole thing, but I doubt they get smoked either. Century has 3 blowouts; Edina, Rosemount, and Albert Lea but also close losses to DE, WBL, and Roseville. Mayo has been blown out once, Mankato West and a 3-2 loss to DE. South plays one of the tougher schedules in the state and is playing very well now.

South 10 Dodge Cty 0, if Curt Nelson keeps his head in he game he could keep it close but I don't see any scoring for DC.

Century 3 Mayo 1, Century has the better defense and goalie, Mayo has the better offense. Yaggy hasn't been sharp under pressure and Mayo s young. Ewing has been to the state tournament and Century has seniors at key positions. If Mayo gets ahead early they have a chance but if they don't it will be a "here we go again" kind of thing. Mato has a better chance to win the section than Cetury does but the draw didn't work out in Mayo's favor.

Owatonna 8 Winona 2, they've played twice and Owatonna hasn't been tested, I don't see that changing.

North 6 Farmington 5, both teams aren't playing well and only the luck of the draw gives either a chance to make the semifinals. It's a game I could see Farmington winning but I'll take the home team.

I agree with you goldy as long as it is Lakeville South. Thay have played everybody tough all year.

I also hope you are right. I was glad to see Century do well last year even if it was against the Catholics.

1AA has come under alot of scrutiny and I'd hate to see it get reshuffled by dropping more metro teams into it to make it more competitive. You Southern boys should have a section.

the first round will be very hard for them to win playing against a top 4 seed

agreed sucks how sections like 6aa have 2 teams in top 5 in state and only one will make it, at least edina isn't in 6aa anymore
