Was anyone at this game to tell what happened and how this happened? And does Rogers look like they could give Blaine a run for their money?

I don't see why not Spar??
Champlin swept Blaine this year!
The only thing that's been hurting this team all year is consistent goaltending, and the guy in net is getting it done now!
Rogers out shot the Rebels in the 1st 2 periods, and the Rebels threw a barrage of rubber in the third to end the shots like 29-23 in favor of CP.
Rebels had early penalties and Rogers had them late including a 5-3, and no PP goals were scored by either team.
Rogers D was huge toninght I don't think they gave up any clear scoring opportunities, Fwds bloked a lot of point shots, and when the loose pucks ended up out front of the Rogers net, either the D cleared the area, or the tender did his job.(he got really lucky a few times)
I really don't think CP expected to receive the physical play Rogers came with, and it made a huge difference.
Also Champlin was missing Grandner, but Rogers was missing Jensen.
I also want to say that CP was class all the way to the handshake, nothing cheap, even at the end when it was clearly over.

If the Royals (and Anoka) make state, I just may have to cancel my trip!

I believe he's got a broken wrist and is on the shelf for the year... which makes this win all that more impressive.

Ok so now that Rogers beat the #2 seed, how come Centennial will not play the #7 seed? Does anyone else think that these brackets should work where the highest seed always plays the lowest seed?

Fluke and Fluke again.
Rogers was the best 7 seed in the state, and Champlin a weak 2. PS2 had Champlin as the 4th best in 5AA. If Rogers plays well again, and Blaine overlooks them, who knows?
It Can Happen!

Way to go Rogers...Very nice win!
Rogers is probably the most dangerous 7th seeded team in the State.
And I think the only one left at this time also.

Yeah, Hal is wise beyond his years. Whatever he says you might as well take to the bank...

The one seed already has enough advantage.

Yes they do but they worked the entire season to lock up that number one seed and thats the whole point of being a number one seed is to have all the advantages because you earned them. Otherwise you might as well just pull names out of a hat and forget the seedings.

I think the answer here is because this is not a playoff format, it's a tournament format. Just like the brackets you see in the NCAA basketball tournament. Once the teams are seeded and the tournament is set, you just go. I think you are looking at it they way the NHL does it. A playoff format. I see where you are coming from, but I think this is your answer.

No. First off, seedings aren't flawless as proved by Champlin
Second, the number 1 usually gets the advantage of only needing their best effort once. All others at least twice. Would you re-seed at state too so Roseau doesn't have to play anyone until the title game? Your proposition is a ridiculous as O-Towns sectional match-ups.

He's in a cast, will he play yet? Very doubtful, although I'm sure if he could get a playing cast or something he would.
One other note... this is the 1st time in Rogers short school history they have won a Quarter Final Sect. game, last year was the 1st time they won a section game period, ironically both over Champlin.

Well I look at it like this maybe the cougers will get their shot at playing the #7 seed in the section final.
The other thing is what does it matter, the point is not to get to the section final game it is to get to the state tourney. Now if all you are concerned about is making it to the sectional final maybe I can validate you wanting to re-seed but be careful what you ask for you might not get to the finals that way either.
Maybe Rogers would want to play the #1 seed next since they already took out #2 now they have to play a lower seed is that really fair.
