Wow, wish I could have been there.

Three stars aren't close to enough, so we're sharing some.

1) Waggoner, Archer, Fox - Someone said they didn't like the announcers at My Fox. I disagree. Unrivaled passion. Excellent play-by-play by Waggoner and the production (only saw highlights, didn't see game on live stream) looked great. If someone didn't know it was HS the quality of the announcers would have them guessing WCHA or CCHA, if not Canada's OHL or even NHL.

2) Becker? The Burnsville goalie stayed poised througout. Edina had waves of late pressure and the kid never buckled. No soft goals and something like 45 saves. Well played.

3) Lee, Budish, Everson, Gleason, Baker, Regan - Too hard to choose. Lee made his presence known throughout and picked it on the penalty shot. Watch the first goal and you'll see Budish with an exquisitely delivered pass in tight quarters for Everson's goal. Everson paid it forward with a savvy wrap in OT to Anders. Defensively one poster has said Gleason was the best player on the ice in both games (remember, Gardiner was out there earlier) and the announcing tandem cited Regan for his best game ever. Another friend has lauded Baker for steady play all season. In the highlights he seemed to always be in position and delivered his passes smack in the middle of the tape. Gleason's superior skating allowed him to break up several Burnsville chances.

I know this leaves off Barnes, Hendrickson, and others that are also deserving, but it is awfully hard to choose. I heard it was a great game, but it was still a surprise to feel such emotion coming through on archived highlights when I already knew the outcome.

Ranking the Highlight chapters (in case you don't have time to watch all):

1 - OT, part 2: great hogpile scene followed by Edina's players going Artest trying to climb into the stands.

2 - 1st period: had three goals

3 - 3rd period: Lee on the penalty shot and also the return by B'ville to go all square.

4 - OT, part 1: I think they show the OT in its entirety with stoppages edited. Back and forth, you really get a feel for the electricity in the arena.

5 - 2nd period: a 2-1 game becomes 2-2.

Definitely worth a watch if you are a fan of good puck and didn't see the game. Too bad they couldn't get permission for Benilde-'Tonka. Those aren't up but I believe the Stitch website has the audio.

Good post O-Town. You indeed missed two good ones. I doubt I'll see anything better at the X. I'm off to check out the highlites. I wonder if they captured another aspect of this game that I thought was impressive. That is -

The Burnsville kids rocked the house!

They literally filled two entire sections of Mariucci and looked like they had a blast. What great school spirit! Even the band was there. You see these threads around here where they argue who has the best student section. I saw the best student section ever last night. Hats off to the Bville kids! You certainly supported your team.
