Just wondering what people know about this event. I know someone who has been asked to play on the North team and was curious if it is just a money maker, or is it legit. Thanks

It is old and tired. There are too many other, better all star types of series these days.

I'm sure it's no different than So. Side Stars, Classic Elite, and Super Series, BUT ...

1) It's one of the few for high school age guys.
2) More importantly, it's a good warm-up to play with your birthyear prior to Advance 16s, especially after playing with the older HS guys all winter. This will be a very different game than what you've been playing the last few months.

My humble opinion.

This a great event. I was at it last year and they do a great job. Lots and lots of scouts in the crowd. I think it is at the Super Rink again.

This tournament is a joke!

They ask players that have already graduated and aren't doing anything. I know because a buddy of mine got a call yesterday!

They get a few top notch kids, but there is also a number of kids that have no business being there.

It's not the top of the line... but yeah, it's a desent warmup.

Why are all tournaments that are not for the top kids a joke? I don't know who is running it or how it got started but I do know a bunch of kids and parents decide to play in it. Maybe they play in it just becasue they like hockey. Maybe that is enough reason to play in it. My kid is not a top player and in five years I hope this tournament is around so I can watch him one last weekend in organized hockey. Don't say it is a joke because we want organizers like these guys to keep offering programs like this. If they go away, there may not be another motivated guy to do it.

I know a half dozen players from the Northland that will be playing and they are all very good. No matter how it turns out, it is always great to get some ice if you haven't played in a couple of weeks before the select teams get picked.
