Most state tournament appearances by one player

Last night when Little Falls defeated Alexandria for their forth consecutive trip to the state tournament, it marked the fourth time senior Beau Hanowski will be making the trip down to the X.
Who else in the state's history has made four or more trips to the state tournament

Tim Sheehy of Intl Falls.
And he had 3 championships and one runner-up.

I'm sure PB will dig up some public school kid who went through 10th grade twice and was able to make the elusive 5th Tourney appearance.

He probably would have before the large dressing down he received yesterday afternoon!

Somebody from Fergus Falls surely must have gone to state four times...they were there for almost a decade straight...

I don't know if this counts, but Anders Lee will be making his 4th appearance next week with Edina, he had 3 at STA.
He could be the only player to win a state championship in both A and AA.

Time for the good Doctor to open up his archive mind of hockey knowledge to all!
Crowley only played in 3 (1992, 1993, 1994). He was a freshman on the team in '91 that lost to Kennedy in the Section V finals.
Parrish played on 3 (1993, 1994, 1995). Was a Bantam A as a 9th grader, as are most kids.
Checco only played in 2 (1992 & 1993). Started varsity the same year as Crowley.
John Pohl graduated in 1998. He would have played on 4 tournament teams. Impressive, nonetheless.
There is a list of guys that could have, but were injured along the way:
-Tom Nevers (Edina): Played in 1987 & 1989, injured & did not play in the tournament in 1988 when they won the title (Patrick Ewing Theory?)
-Matt Mathias (Duluth East): Played in 1994, 1995 & 1997. Was injured in 1996 & did not play.
There is a very large list of people that have played in three, you have to look at people that are in the 4 & 5 year range. Probably easier to find them in the A ranks or the private school files since they most likely would have a better chance of being on the varsity team as a 9th or 8th grader. That's why Anders Lee is in a unique position because he falls into both categories (private school & Class A) prior to attending Edina.
If it's going to be a AA guy, the guy either had to be on a team that had a big section run to state for multiple years or was a transfer.

Didn't Anders Lee go to Edina before he transfered to STA

what about Nick Licari from DE from the lat 90's I remember him being on the DE team as an 8th grader and I believe this was a time when DE went every year forever. I think maybe Cloquet or Greenway might have gone and broke his streak but i'm not sure any DE fans know????

I have "The Game" from the 96 state tournament and they interview Matt Mathias during the game. My question would be, how much of a factor would he have been in that game? I think he was a junior and if I am not mistaken was a captain in his senior year. Just kinda wondering if it would have helped the Hounds that much. Maybe Lee could tell me. He must have been down not only after the loss, but just the fact that he couldn't play in that game.

Grew up in Edina and played in the Edina system, but never attended EHS until this school year. He started playing for STA varsity as an 8th grader.

Elk River got moved into section 7AA in 1999 and they were the representative that year, so Licari wasn't in the tournament in 1999. Greenway won 7AA in 2001 & Cloquet in 2002.
Actually, I believe that Licari was only there twice (1998 & 2000). Pretty sure he was NOT on the 1997 Runner-Up team.

Licari was on the '98 as an eighth grader and only got there twice. Dylan Mills '94-'97 played in four straight for DE.
