How the hell are both the Northern teams not given the 7 and 8th seeds? They are definitely the weakest teams in the tourney. They should seriously consider changing how they set up the bracket if Duluth is not the number 8 or 7 seed.

I agree. Duluth lost to OMG if I am not mistaken and Grand Rapids lost to Duluth in their regional tournament.

But Duluth has also beaten Wayzata, and Bloomington this year, and battled Wessy's to OT. And also because the Northern teams do not compete in the Metro League their is no way to tell for certain how the would match up if multiple games were played each year against the league teams. So the Regional system has been set up to have the Metro 6 seed team play the Northern 1 seed team, and the Metro 1 seed team play the Northern 2 seed team. Either way, Metro is given a distinct advantage in State Tournament play because they do have a wider base of good teams year in and year out, where as the north may not. The only solution to this would be to either set up either a state wide league or add metro teams to the northern regional.

I agree that northern teams should be represented in state (otherwise it would just be Metro playoffs part II) but if they are weaker teams, the last two seeds should be reserved for them.

Well, it is unfortunate that there is no way to properly seed teams according to their skill. The because their have been instances when Northern teams have been better than cities teams but are seeded lower as well, and vice versa. It would be great to have a state wide ranking system based on the scores. Rankings that MAHA oversees, because the Let's Play Hockey doesn't always portray any rankings with accuracy. The way I see it, if Duluth beat Jefferson, then wouldn't it make sense for them to be seeded higher than Jefferson? If you were going based on head to head season play, Duluth would be the 6th seeded team, not the 7th. But because Jefferson has beaten teams that Duluth has lost too, you would think that they would be higher seeded than Duluth. Which brings us back to my original point that their is no good way without a State Wide League or an accurate panel of rankers to properly set up the State Tourny. Case and point for the Regional Rankers. Grand Rapids was the 1st seed in the Northern Tournament, but Duluth beat them with ease both times, and in the season. That just points out more of the innaccuracy when a league or proper rankers is not present. The Metro rankings don't have those kind of problems because teams are ranked based off of points gained during the regular season. All in all, the State format as it is works, and it has proven that in past years. The 6th seeded Metro team is still a very tough task for even a 1st seed Northern team. But we all need to remember that this is playoffs, and no matter what regular season or boasting has brought to the table, it all gets tossed out the window when the puck drops the ice, because the great thing about this game is that their is upsets and anything can happen. That is what makes it so great to be a part of hockey.

I agree, I think White Bear Lake will beat Edina in the Championship.

Centennial will beat Jefferson for Third.

Minnetonka will beat Duluth for Consolation.

haha i love how nobody gives edina any love just because they are EDINA. i admit i am from edina, and may be biased, but the hornets have only lossed 2 games the whole year and havent lost since early december. they split with WBL, the first time they beat them 6-1, total ass whooping and then WBL beat them 5-3, with an empty netter to make it 5. someone has to give love to the hornets

The fact that you haven't lost since early December is the exact reason I don't think you guys will win it all. The state tourney is a whole different deal than league play, or even regions. Your over confident and you guys WILL be put down either in semi's or finals.

Maybe Rapids can duplicate the 1993 quarter final performance against Edina.

Sorry, I would love to see Grand Rapids beat Edina, but I don't see it happening. I do agree with bulldoggs in that I don't think Edina will win it all. I think Centennial, or WBL will beat them.

Bulldog, Edina is not over confident what-so-ever, i just feel like just because its edina, nobody gives them a chance. and thats funny you say its different hockey, because in regions, edina put down a very good team in wessys boy 4-1 to go to state. But thats fine dont give them a chance...with everyone counting them out, it just makes them more hungry for the championship.

And bulldog, if you look at the hornets schedule for the last 7 games of league play, each team they played was in the top 7...and what did they do, they won them all. FOR WHAT? yeah the hornets were playing to win the league and get the top seed FOR STATE. I agree that everyone takes it up a notch at state, but do you just think the hornets are just gonna sit back and not rise up to the occasion? think again.

Obviously my prediction now is Edina after hearing how many good teams they have beat and how amazing they are.
