I love the tourney, and they do an outstanding job of covering the games, but could we get a new story or two for intros and intermissions? Every year we get a great look at Mayasich and Mariucci with the same exact stories. We also get another in depth look at Mike Antonovich. These are great stories once. Here's hoping that with the many, many tourneys, they'll be able to come up with some fresher stuff in the future.

Forgot about Spee. How 'bout some GR stories, or some Roseau ones. Heck, I'd even take some Hill Murray stories. A good one for Hill would be a piece on one of their coaches that was injured will playing overseas. Mix in some updates, maybe a "where are they now". Something, anything different.

It's absolutely crazy that they don't upgrade some of their stuff.
They are all great stories the first time. After 20 or 30 times, they lose their appeal.
Put some Communication Majors on it from some school.
There HAS to be more footage of some of the great history of this greatest tourney.
Not every viewer is a virgin at this. Find some new stuff or give up the contract. CH 45 does the very minimum, and it's sad to see. It's the only thing second-class about the whole event.

How about voicing your opinions and complaints to KSTC Channel 45 instead of on here all the time.

It would definitely make more sense.

I couldn't agree more. We have watched the Apple Valley-Duluth East 96 game enough. I understand it was the greatest game ever, but we watch the same thing each year on Ch.45. How about music videos like Ch.4 did back in the day?

heaven forbid they have to put some money into doing some production. I'm guessing they know hundreds of thousands across the state is going to be watching no matter what because its the state tournament that if they spsend as little money as possible producing it the higher their profits will be

I hope FSN buts in a bid next time this contract is up

I think 45 has a Schafhauser profile in the can - I know I've seen one. Maybe it was FSN.

The music videos back when the tournament was on Ch. 4 were the best! When I was little we would skip school and watch the tournament games on TV...we would record all the music videos and goals and still have those VHS tapes. It definitely would be interesting to see some of the music videos teams put together with the music nowadays.

Last year they had profiles on different towns, I remember seeing ones on Hibbing, Roseau, International Falls for sure and I know there were more.

Two years ago was the ten year anniversary of the DE-Apple Valley game so it made sense to have a profile on it which they did.

There was one year where they had a panel with like eight great coaches, Ikola, et al and they shared stories and opinions with Lou Nanne asking the questions. I remember a funny quote from Saterdalen about the first time he went to the tourney as a kid, spending the whole day watching hockey and eating hot dogs and ending up with a stomachache but seeing great hockey.

I didn't see the coverage yesterday so maybe they just re-ran some of the old pieces that they had but I'm willing to be that they'll have some new profiles or whatever for the between periods or between games downtime today. Whatever they have it has to be better than listening to Phil Housley try to analyze the game.

Channel 45's coverage has been OK, we're not going back to the top of the line coverage that Channel 4 gave the tourney in the '80s unfortunately. The coverage that Channel 9 was giving near the end of their run was bare bones compared to what we're getting from 45 now.

i use to love when they would goto each school in the tourney and make like alittle skit. this is a huge venue in the state of minnesota it would be nice if tv coverage would start acting like it. its great that its on tv but its time to take it to the next level! better coverage better programing the channel in roseau piped in on pbs is horrible. bad sound is the biggest problem. they should start interviews and hype an hour prior to each session.

I think channel 45 has a ten year contract with the mshsl, after it expires I hope to God that FSN will step up and take the tournament over. I cannot handle listening to the terrible people they have doing the games except Lou.(he is a legend)

FSN would do a much better job and would get more in depth with the tourney and the players then does 45.

Plus I may or may not have a crush on Marney G.
