Good to see the seeded teams move on, can't wait for the games on Fri. night.
With only 3 goals scored on the seeded teams (one being a late goal on lee), who do you guys think had the best performance?
I thought phillipi made some difficult saves that he made look easy. He looks he has a lot of confidence. All the other guys played good as well.

Brandon Wigen for Woodbury played the game of his life. 44 saves (??)with very little help from the defense.

Blaine had some excellent chances tonight! Lee made 32 saves and a couple of those were sliding across the goal mouth to shut down Blaine...
Yes, it was the Landman & Ness show tonight, but I thought Blaine played fairly well outshooting and getting many scoring chances, only to have Lee stand on his head again.
Lee had a very good night and gets my vote...
Almost fell asleep during the Woodbury/BSM game...

I agree, but Edina looked off even though the score doesn't say it. There goalie stood on his head.

NOOO way... CEC had about 0 good shots. every shot was right in Cashettas chest!! i am consistently amazed by Lee and he was the best goalie today. all the goalies today did a pretty decent job though

Sorry, Edina shut down everything in front of Cashetta... Cloquet had nothing all night, except for a short two-shot flurry at the left sode of the net... Yawner for Mr. Cashetta
Edina looked very good tonight, but it was not Mr Cashetta, it was the play in front of him

I was stuck at work for the first game. But in the final 3 games
1. Yumu, LS...many point blank saves. 33 shots....hm coulda won 10-0
2. Wigen. Played great
3. Phillippi...was never really tested. But did what he had to do

agreed about caschetta...stood on his head? i must have a different definition than toivo on what a goalie standing on his head means.
i cant think of more than 5 great scoring chances blaine or cloquet combined for even though they had over 60 shots between them.

Lee impressed me tonight because he seems so composed, he looks like he belongs in the WCHA, where has he commited?

As a Gopher fan, I wish I could tell you Minnesota, but he has declared to go to St. Coud State

Can't agree more...
I really like Kangas, but you're right, when Lee comes in, Kangas would be a Junior, and the Gophs do not have a second option in the fold, what if Kangas gets hurt...
If you look back, Don has not been one to go get that "Top End" goalie, but I guess Frazee was supposed to be that guy from NDTP, and we have seen how that has worked...

since his commitment is only verbal would it be possible for him to change his mind?? i mean i dont see why he would rather go to St cloud especially since Ness would be there with him

im sure he could always change his mind if the U gives him a scholorship, or at least talk to him, but from what iv'e heard, they have basically ignored his existance

I would really say with the exception of Blaine's goalies and Cloquets the rest of the goalies had pretty solid days.
BSM, Edina, Woodbury, LS, Roseau, and H-M

Philippi- Lakeville had a few great chances to tie up the game or at least bring it closer and he shut the door every time. Let's see if he can continue that for the Landman and Ness show tonight

This is probably the best way to describe how he played. LS got really about 5 real shots on goal. It looked as thought they were a little anxious playing in the tournament. Congrats to them for making it there, it is not as easy as it looks to play your game in front of all those people.

How can you say he "stood on his head"? He played great position and is very confident and composed. He played with ease last night but did not "stand on his head". The more I see him, the more I like his game.

You have bad sources. The Gophers and Sioux are both disappointed that he is already committed to SCSU. (It also appears not everyone respects verbal commitments to other institutions). Mike Lee will not go back on his word nor does he want to.
That being said, I have drank gallons and gallons of the Lee Kool-aid but I thought Caschetta played the best on Thursday. Especially with the he's Edina's week link talk. Mike Lee had an off game and I look for him to bounce back today.

I like seeing how Lee's game has devleoped since last year. They are letting him play the puck more allowing for more continuity for Roseau's offense. Last year, he was all about covering the puck up.
That being said, he wasn't the best goalie over the quarters, but if I was a coach and got a choice of any goalie today from any team, it would be Lee.
