Is Roseau a Lock for the State AA Title again?

I dont think you can LOCK them because Edina is obviously a very talented team and should give them a great game.

No way!
Hill could give them a game if they physically pound Roseau tomorrow, but I think Edina looked great today!
Edina looks like a whos who of D1 talent whoever is on the ice...
Edina can beat Roseau, not saying they will, but they can...

Definitely not a lock. They still have a couple of really good teams to beat.
Having said that, I think that they are the best team. They looked good against Blaine, but I've seen them play much better. They were not quite firing on all cylinders--their D could have been better and I've seen them move faster. Must be the slow ice at the X...

Definately!! If Ness wasn't on the ice (and even a few times when he was out there with 3rd line) Roseau has troubles getting the puck out of their zone.

thats what someone is going to have to do to beat roseau. exploit their 2-4 d and wear ness down with an established forecheck. its gonna be tough for ness to log the minutes he did in the first two periods last night against the best team they have faced this yr in HM. on top of that he has to come back 24 hrs later and probably will play edina (benilde could be there too) and that will be a team thats a step up from HM and will have probably the best set of forwards he has seen in hs. With that being said, edinas 2-4 defensemen are their achilles heel if you ask me and the rams forwards could just as easily exploit them.
I wasnt real impressed with the feet on some of those ram d, other than ness. On top of that they had times where they didn't have a forechecker close to them and would just throw the puck up off the glass or in a wings feet.
I even saw the slap pass a few times but maybe it was first day jitters, a lot of d in the tourney looked a little shakey with the puck. Maybe its the idea of having the puck and being the last guy back in front of 18k..some kids just want to get rid of it.
Should be some great games today.

if it gets there, I will agree that Edina will give them a run for their money. However, I don't think HM will. After watching their game last night right after the Roseau show, it was like watching night and day. HM seemed much slower, had sloppy play, and lucky for them their opponents played the same way or they would have had a goal or two deficit to overcome. The Rams on the other hand absolutly dominated from the begining of the game until they were about 4 or 5 goals ahead.

After watching last night, I do not feel that Roseau will be a lock to repeat but they have a real good chance. I was not impressed with the play by Hill. Plip seems a little off on some shots, almost shaky. I was impressed with Ness and his explosive speed that he showed. They announced him as a junior, so I do not think he will win Mr Hockey. That is for a senior. Although he is a talented player, studying harder and trying to graduate early, he is still a junior and that is how he is presented and the award is for a senior. But he is a good player.
I have seen Edina and BSM will give them a run, but in the end Edina will win and the state will get the match-up they have been waiting for.

Not a lock, there's some GREAT teams in the semis, but I think they have the tools to make a run at it.

You've got to be a (Hill, BSM,Edina) fan to put this thread in and use the "R" word this early in the tournament.

no lock

The Rams did not make the 350 mile commute to be "given the trophy". They know they will have to play their best for 3 games to repeat. No lock by any means.
With the top 4 seeds winning, its "Up for Grabs"!

I watched the same game everyone else watched but I did not see a bulletproof Rams team at all. Ness Lee and the first line are top notch. Not perfect but very good. Allthough Blaine did not score but two goals they did have there chances and more than a few where quality. Lee made some tough saves He makes it look easy but they where tough. I did however like they way the spread the ice out. The Rams only seemed to have trouble when the game was in small places.

Dude, he's currently a senior, he's a finalist for Mr. Hockey and he's everyone's favorite to win it. This has been known for quite some time. If he's not eligible, why would they make him a finalist? You're out of the loop obviously.

i dont think you can call anyone a lock. the rams were the best team in the quarterfinals, hands down. but this is high school hockey. any off night or a soft goal given up by lee and roseau could lose. with the caliber of the next two teams they will be playing, any hiccup by the rams could turn into a loss.

Do I think they'll win it all? Absolutely!
Would I bet my house on it? Not a chance!

Aaron Ness could skate circles around 99% of the players in this tournament. Mike Lee is the best goalie in the tournament and Roseau is the best team in the tournament. They will have no problem with Hill its Edina that worry's me. But otherwise yea Roseau's a lock for sure.

Here's how I see it...
EDINA is more talented than the rams, and if they play well they should have s 50-50 shot of beating Roseau. BENILDE also has a shot if they advance, they play solid defense and can skate with the Rams. HILL also has a chance, if Phillipi gets hot anything can happen. Overall odds of winning...
Roseau 0.4
Edina 0.3
BSM 0.175
HM 0.125

its just roseaus style of play on the break out situation. they dont over persue in the d-zone they keep you on the outside tuff to score from out their. its not a battle of whos in whos zone the most its who scores the most.

hmmm before the 1st game they had a 1 in 8 chance of a repeat, now i put it at 1 in 4. If they win tonight, 1 in 2.

Nobody is ever a lock in this tournament.
The Rams are good enough to win it all.
But so are the other three remaining teams.

NO WAY NO WAY NO WAY
BSM, Hill, and a little team called EDINA all are capable of defeating Roseau. I would not be surprised if Roseau even lost to Hill today.
