Paul Martin was on the second team all-time tournament team. The only thing they said about Paul Martin was that he won State with elk river in 2001 when he was actually with the gophers. In 2000 elk river didn't even make state. so what years was he actually at state and what were his stats?

He was at state with the Elks in 1999. Had one goal and four assists in the tournament. No idea what his season stats were.

Its all BS anyway. It's just a Tribute to Old Time Hockey. I love Northern Hockey and respect the greats of the 50-80's... But its time to start giving some kids from the last 25years alittle credit. We'll never see Mayasich type domination again. Times have changed and its time the so called experts realize this.

3-4 outa 14 players from the south/metro on the All-Time Teams. kinda funny.

Somebody should really let the clowns on channel 45 know that Paul Martin didn't play high school hockey when they think he did.

Don't know if his stats are that good. Grab some tough guys from the 60's or 70's. They've got to be better.

Such as players from St. Paul Johnson and International Falls in the '60's.

If my memory serves me right. I do believe he was not out there was a point producer. He was a shut down defensive D that helped his team take 3rd place. I do believe he played a very good game against a very good Hastings team at the time.

Anyone who didn’t get to see much of Martin really missed a great high school D-man. He was big, strong and shut most everyone down. He’s listed as 6’1” today and I bet that hasn’t changed since H.S.

The interesting thing with Martin was that he looked so calm and nonchalant on the ice. Forwards would come streaking into the neutral ice looking to gain the zone while Paul would smoothly skate over and poke the puck away or rub the guy out. I swear it looked like he wouldn’t be able to close the gap but he always did . (Ok maybe not always)

As a fan of great defense, I always liked watching him. Whether or not he’s 2nd team all time can certainly be debated but there’s no doubt the guy was a stud and our 2000 Mr. Hockey recipient (for hockey season 99-00).

Its not only that game, but big players step up in big games. That would be one big game. He was the most dominating player in the tournament. He controls a game. There is a part of the game that does not show up on the stat sheet.

Who B he may have been 6'1 in high school but if you ever saw him in high school he couldn't have been a 175 lbs soaking wet.

Musta been some big shoulder pads! Then again, my homer squad, led by 5'8" Marty Sertich, was pretty small and made any 6 footer look big.

Not too many, if any, from the last 10 years that deserve that kind of credit, I can't think of any outside of 1 glaring omission; how do you not have Greg Stutz on there? Goering had 1 memorable game, but he only made it once and had a GAA of 2.33, Stutz had a GAA of 0.00
