I know it didn't work out for Roseau, but Giles never got Cashetta out of the goal in the final minutes. Obviously with a 3 goal deficit it is unlikely you can come back, but I'm surprised he didn't try...

I agree IMO they really didn't have the chance or good opportunity to do it, there was to much pressure!

I don't think it was the right time to be pulling the goalie. Just my opinion though.

edina never got the chance to pull him HM murray as soon as edina got it in the neutral zone HM would take it from the edina skater and dump it back in

They just knew how good Isaac Kohls is at hitting empty nets, even if he can't score on multiple breakaways with the goalie in.

I wouldn't have pulled him either under the circumstances but after that second goal, I might have started the second with the other goalie. Hindsight is always 20/20 I guess.

How would switching Edina goalies help the Hornets when Flip shut them out?

I was right behind the H-M bench and during the timeout Lechner was telling them to be ready just in case they did pull there goalie, so they were ready. Also it would be hard to put a goalie in when he has seen litimed time at varsity and send him in the state championship game. (not to discredit Young who is a good goalie)

Kinda funny how pulling a goalie for an extra attacker late in a game turned into responses about switching out Cash$. Don't think the original questioner was implying that Cash should have been switched out in favor of the backup.

& to stay on point - I think Edina had figured out by the last couple minutes that that such a move would most likely only end up costing another goal.

I don't think he should have pulled him. The goals he let in good, aside from the 2nd one at the end of the period. reminds me much of frazee from the gophers

I was more impressed with how he kept his composer throughout the game. For a young man in front of 18,000+ letting a soft goal like he did could have thrown him off for the rest of the night. Much like what happen in class A where the scc goalie let in 3 of the first 4 shots.

At the end of the game I have never been a big fan of pulling the goalie if you are down by more the 2. The likely hood of you coming back is small already. As it will be even smaller if you pull your goalie and they score. If your down by more then 2 you will probably have to pull your goalie with 2 or 3 min left and not allowing a shot is difficult to do.

Generally I would agree with you about when to pull a goalie. But it is a different situation in a championship game when there is no tomorrow. They had second sewn up, so it couldn't have turned out any worse. I'm guessing by that point in the game Giles didn't feel that it would make any difference at all.
