Which players, past or present, have not only been studs on the ice, but in other high school sports as well?

Zach Budish and Anders Lee could easily play D1 college football and both play baseball as well. Obviously both are playing D1 college Hockey.[/b]

Joe Stejskal from Rapids last was dominant in any sport he played no matter what it is. The most all round athlete I have ever seen.

Hardings' (soon to be North St. Paul's) Joe Rubbelke would certainly have to be considered. One of the top passers in the state in football and a good baseball player too.

Eddy didn't excel in football.
Anders is a solid QB but this is Minnesota he could not easily play D1.
Soderberg from EP was the Football teams Safety.
Hand from Chaska is one of the best Baseball players in the state.
One of the Hanowski Bro's is going to SDSU for Baseball. I beieve Beau.

Chris Hickey dominated in football and played some ball along with Ryan McDonagh. Ryan Bohr great ball player, Eddy from Woodbury is also good at at baseball and I did see him on there football roster for three years but i saw him against Cretin and lets face it nobody's going to excel against them.

Mike Sikich, Apple Valley- was the goalie for the soccer team this year and gave up only 6 goals all year!
Not many points on the ice but I saw Jordan Carlson and he didn't either so I had to throw that out there.

Some names from the past few years.

Dan Welch, Hastings- All State in Football, Hockey, and I believe Baseball (if not he was very good anyways)
Paul Martin, Elk River- Exact same story as Welch only I believe he was like a 4.0 student to go along with it.
Colin Auchenbach, Apple Valley- I believe an all-state goalie, now playing professional Lacrosse.

Weinke and Mauer played hockey?
I don't recall that.

Dave Winfield. Best all around athlete. I think he might have played squirts for St. Paul Johnson :D

No they didn't but someone said that Joe Stejskal was the best all around athlete they had ever seen.

Apparently this person has not seen Joe Mauer.

Ben is a very good baseball player also. I believe he started at shortstop as a soph last year. He may have led the team in bombs as well. Not bad for a soph. Funny, I remember when I played amateur ball, John would bring his kids to the games when they were little. Hard to believe their already young men. Man I'm gettin' old!

Past player Matt Niskanen

From USA HOCKEY MAGAZINE:

Even with his blossoming hockey career, Niskanen still played other sports, excelling in baseball and football. At Virginia-Mountain Iron Buhl High School, he was a four-time all-conference baseball player (pitcher and infielder) and was also a three-year starting quarterback on the football team. In 2004-05, he was the first player to double as the Duluth News-Tribune’s football and hockey player of the year in the same year.

Maybe they didn't see Wienke play ever and probably didn't see Mauer in HS.

Eddy was a 3-year, 3-sport varsity starter. Free safety in football and catcher in baseball. You don't see that a whole lot.

Yes he did. He was one of the best running backs in state his junior year and it was a huge loss for Cretin to have him quit to avoid injury.

Another name to throw around is James Laurinitis. Solid Hockey player, amazing at football.
