Anyone heard anything about a Junior Fest being held this year?

I'm sure it will be held. It is always around mid June, or right after school is done for the summer.

How well is this tournamnet attended by players and is it worth it to participate for scouting opportunities. Any Opinions ???

Received an email that players will be notified about juniorfest results before the 2nd week in May. There'll be much angst over results, given that there are only 4 teams this year. Its really a shame, and I wish someone could tell us why that is. Perhaps they thought 8 teams was too many, but if thats the case, why not go to 6, like the Freshman/Sophmore Development Camp?

I think you will hear people say that the talent pool is depleted in this class, but the main reason is last year some college coaches thought it was too watered down. It is too bad, I always think the more kids who can get a little exposure and be seen by some DI and DIII coaches that can't or don't get to some smaller school games. There are a lot of girls that could play at a DIII level (2-4th line) that never get seen. It should be about giving more opportunities to kids than making it a premier program. Most prominant DI programs already have their kids signed anyways, this is a time for smaller DI and DIII programs to see a lot of different kids and maybe one of the big schools will noticed someone they have never heard of. Overall, one of the best events that is offered. It is great enviroment for the players and the college coaches.

If your player makes a team, it is definitely worth attending. With the new NDP tryouts, a whole group of juniors are left out. (Fall 90's) So this might be their only chance to play in a select format. Last year, there were a lot of college scouts.
