332 PM CDT WED APR 9 2008

...BLIZZARD CONDITIONS TO IMPACT THE TWIN PORTS VICINITY THURSDAY
NIGHT THROUGH EARLY SATURDAY...WITH A MAJOR SNOWSTORM ELSEWHERE
ACROSS THE NORTHLAND...

AN INTENSE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE SLOWLY NORTHEAST THROUGH
IOWA AND ACROSS SOUTHERN WISCONSIN LATE THURSDAY INTO EARLY
SATURDAY. THIS STORM TRACK WILL FAVOR HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW
ACROSS THE WESTERN GREAT LAKES REGION THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH EARLY
SATURDAY.

A LARGE SWATH OF SNOW...IN EXCESS OF ONE FOOT IN SOME AREAS...
COMBINED WITH HIGH WINDS AND BLOWING SNOW WILL CREATE HAZARDOUS
TRAVEL CONDITIONS.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DULUTH HAS ISSUED A BLIZZARD
WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THURSDAY TO 7 AM CDT
SATURDAY.

NORTHEAST WINDS GUSTING TO 40 TO 50 MPH...COMBINED WITH HEAVY
SNOW...WILL RESULT IN A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HAZARDOUS WHITEOUT
CONDITIONS FOR LOCATIONS NEAR LAKE SUPERIOR...INCLUDING THE TWIN
PORTS. IN ADDITIONAL TO SEVERAL HOURS OF NEAR ZERO
VISIBILITY...SIGNIFICANT DRIFTING OF SNOW IS EXPECTED.

TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 10 TO 16 INCHES...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER
AMOUNTS...CAN BE EXPECTED.

The storm which hammered the Iron Range last weekend missed Duluth; we had just a light coating of snow by Lake Superior. This is our payback.

And to think, two weeks ago we were on the beach enjoying 85 degrees and sun.

This is bad. However, we did see the sun down here for a couple of hours yesterday. Its an amazing sight.

Lee, what are complaining about? Its like this in July when the wind blows off the lake.

Actually, that's quite true right now..it's 40 and we're getting gusts up to 38 mph off the Lake. It's only 15 degrees or so colder than some days in July.

Watching the weather radar and waiting for the first flakes of snow to fly. Slow day at work.

Started raining about an hour ago in Fargo, it's turned to sleet now. Supposed to be 6-10 inches here and they said it would start as rain, then turn to snow. Supposed to be about done by noon friday, but 40 mph winds will make quite a mess around here by then...last weekend they said 2-4 inches, we ended up with about 10. Ok Mrs. Nature, not funny anymore!

Last forecast called for 12-20 inches in Duluth. Nothing down here by the Lake yet but my brother west of Proctor says it's snowing now. I took a drive down to Canal Park just after 6:00 p.m. to get pics of the lake, and the winds at that time were gusting up to 54 mph. Rather hard to stand still and get a steady shot unless one is propped up against something.

I lived in Duluth for a few years, thought that would be the windiest place i'd live...then i moved to Fargo, not even close. The snowstorms in duluth are second to none though, for some reason the "mighty red" doesn't give the same effect. Still just sleet here, here's to hoping it stays that way.

Typical Northern Weather. But I would like the snow to be gone until next winter. Hockey season is over. No more cold weather needed.

I wouldn't call this typical. Last Friday it was 62 degrees, We got almost a foot of snow Saturday night/Sunday morning. Got warm again this week, now we're supposed to get another pounding.
Besides that, this is mid-april, not mid-march...i vote for no more snow storms in april.

yup, fargo is really getting it now. The snow isn't so much falling as blowing completely horizontal, east to west. very strange storm, moving more or less from the south east...bassackwards. My deck has about an inch of ice on it now with the snow starting to pile up on it. Should be a fun ride to work in the morning.

Snowing now and the way it's blowing, it looks like it's rising from the ground! Windows rattling with those 50 mph gusts.

Pretty messing in Fargo right now, but road conditions and visibility are currently just fine.

Just got to St. Paul from Duluth...lots of snowing and blowing once I got south of town. Could only drive about 30-35 mph until I got to Pine City, then it started to let up. What should have been a 2 hour drive took me 3 1/2

Not a fun drive...lots of cars in the ditch. Glad I got out before the hard stuff hit. If I-35 is cleared by Friday night and the Wild win, it will be a very good weekend
