I don't think this has ever been talked about, but I'd be curious to see if the Wild have ever looked into the possibility of either relocating the Aeros or another AHL to somewhere in Minnesota and having that be their primary affiliate. In a lot of ways, I think it makes sense. There are places they could play - Target Center, the DECC (post construction), NSC in St. Cloud (assuming a change to an NHL rink) - maybe even to GF at The Ralph.

You look around and teams like the Flyers and the Leafs have their affiliates right in the same city, and it has to enable a lot of the GM responsibilities to have the younger players right within shouting distance, and the ability to work both the NHL and AHL teams together on occasion to develop a little more continuity.

I thought I saw that the Aeros were drawing something like 5,500 per game, and I would have to think that a team tied to the Wild with more reasonably priced tickets could draw at least that much up here - particularly if it were someplace outside of the Twin Cities.

Pardon my ramble, but it was something that I had questioned for a while, and I just wondered what everybody else thought.

when the renovations are made to the national hockey center...maybe they can play there.close to the cities in case of a emergency call up

the aeros just signed along for another 5 years in houston so unless we switch teams we will be in houston until atleast 2013. I would love to see them move closer, maybe even to iowa, but it sounds like the wild like what they have in houston.

Good information. I figured they would move their operations to Milwaukee or somewhere in Wisconsin since the new majority owner resides in Racine, Wisconsin, just south of Milwaukee.

Which is the new Wild owner's previous team, Nashville. Maybe he will try to trade the 2 minor league organizations???

I wondered why the Dallas stars have an affiliate in Iowa, while Houston is the Wild affiliate. One reason may be Houston fans would not support a team perceived to be a farm team for a Dallas team. Same thing may be true in Iowa.

Dallas's affiliate left Des Moines after last season and were replaced with the Anaheim Ducks farm team. I believe I read somewhere that the Stars' minor league players are playing with various teams this year.

Next year they will play in Cedar Park, TX
