What would it take to move to AAU Hockey?

I am just curious what it would take to make a move to AAU hockey? Would it just be a matter of getting a few associations to convert? I think with the way the Minnesota Hockey Board is run, example the new State Tournament deal for the "A" level. That there needs to be some discussion. Will it ever happen? Doubt it... But if so, how would it have to happen?

AAU would have to be convinced to undertake the project in Minnesota.
Then you would have to recruit teams.
Then you would have to sue USA Hockey for its stance on not allowing their teams to play outside of their sanctioning.
In the menatime you would have to try and keep your organization together.
It would be difficult.

AAU doesn't have an ice hockey program, so that's a problem in starting AAU ice hockey.
The rest isn't as tough, they run parallel programs in many sports; baseball, wrestling, basketball, etc.. In theory you could be on a USA Hockey team and in AAU hockey team, neither organization can stop you from participating in another. USA Hockey has registered players that play for the MSHSL for example. All this assumes AAU has a national ice hockey program which it doesn't.

Yes, and AAU is headquartered at Disney in Florida so they aren't likely to add it either.

Roller hockey makes sense. National championships at Disney.

It actually may be more entertaining than watching the
diluted Mn Hockey version of which they play on the ice.
At least I can talk to Goofy while I am at Disney and my
daughter can talk to Cinderella. Do not forget about the
endless opportunities to get the clown suit out of the OL
closet and you will fit right in as well.[/img]
