Does WBL have a chance at the SEC title? How about in
section 4? Thier goaltending should be solid, how about the rest of the team?

They return all-conference players Swanson and Wolter, and Honorable Mention Collette, Lowell, and Hoffman.
If everybody returns, they should do fine.

WBL will be tough as usual. Check the EGOS and play like a team you will do well. They have talent thats for sure, now if they stop worrying about where they will play after HS and concentrate on the HS season they should finish on top.
Roseville will be a little weaker then last year.
CDH will be down but not out. 1 strong line w/zimmerman and alt at D
Forest Lake will surprise Moberg will be tougher
Park will be down lost a lot of seniors jr class not many kids
Hastings will be down but return Gleinser lost Horsch at D.
MV will be mid pack
Stillwater will be stronger at offense lost a lot at defense goaltending will be solid
Woodbury will be strong question in nets and ability to put the puck away consitantly
Based on success of JV teams last year
WBL was strong and deep 3 lines
Woodbury was strong and deep lines
Stillwater had a line or 2
Roseville was strong 2 lines
The rest didn't have much that I saw at JV.
I think WBL could take care of HILL next year in the Section, they will just have to keep it together to get that far. This will again be the Toughest Conference (SEC) and Section (4AA) in the State.
In my opinion

No Civello in nets for MV.

White Bear could take care of Hill any year as history has shown. But I think White Bear is still a year away from going back to state to try and break the curse. Hill returns a strong team and if they can get some decent goaltending they should be a top 5 team in state. White Bear, from what I could tell this year, is full of solid hard working players but they are short on elite talent. Maybe some of the younger kids cracking varsity this year can be difference makers. That will be yet to be seen. I think they would have to be considered the favorite in the SEC once again as they seem to win or tie for the title pretty much every year. How do I know that H-M will raise their state banner at the White Bear game...

WBL will always have the talent, it's whether they play as a team or individuals. They lost a solid defensemen (Galloway) and their top scorer (Fiala) but year after year, they restock the shelves with new talent.
What can the coaches get out of the talent and are the players committed to working as one? That's the key question.

they still have good talent, but not anywhere near the talent they have had in the past. I think the program is going to slowly decline as their numbers decline. They are still a very good team but not close to the skill level that hill has every year still.

WBL will probably be the favorite in the section. They have many good forwards back and a few d.
Cdh will be second. They have around twelve returners. They return there 2nd leading scorer in Bangs, and their third in Zimmerman. They also have ALt who is sick and will be their best guy and the conferences.
Woodbury will be rough losing practically their whole team. They will have 3 forwards back, 2 d and no goalie. They have one senior, so it will be a roughy ride.
Stillwater should be solid and so should Flake.

Is Max Birkenbine going to stay in White Bear Lake? I heard somewhere he was going to St. Thomas.

Woodbury will have 3 seniors-Pittman, Harman, and Seidel (he was out most of this year with an elbow injury).

seidel didn't play one varsity game and harman probably averaged a shift a game and he actually played some jv games, so they really only have one senior. They will be garbage.

As I said, Seidel was out most of the year with an elbow injury and when he did come back was at maybe 75%. And I know Harman didn't play much, but I was just pointing out taht he will be a senior on the roster at the very least. And don't count out Woodbury just yet, they do have arguably the best coach in the state on the bench.

i agree with you bolen is a great coach probably the best, but he can't make up for no talent. He isn't that good.

That's true no coach can make up for lack of talent, but looking at the SEC for the upcoming year as well as section 3AA, I see no reason Woodbury can't make a run at the conference championship or the section title. WBL will probably be the conference favorite even though they are on a major down year (again), and who's next? CDH, Woodbury, Flake, Roseville? There is no clear cut team in that position, and I wouldn't say that WBL is clearly #1 in the conference by any means. In the section, who is good? Rosemount and Eastview will be way down from last year, CDH is on another down year, and the rest of the section (AV, Eagan, Park, Hastings, & Henry Sibley) will be, unless there is something I don't know about, at their usual levels of mediocreness (is that a word?). I just don't see any real good team coming out of the section, so why not the Royals?

So you are saying Woodbury has no Talent?? I think you will be eating those words they have a very good group at the Jr level for next year. Goaltending will be the only question mark in the next 2 years.

sure they have good kids, but they won't do anything next year. They have no experience. They barely beat cretins JV team and barely any of those kids from CDH jv team will play varsity next year.

I don't think he will go to St. Thomas since he went there his 8th grade year and hated it

I'd bet they are having Hill back that day too. Pretty soon Hockey Day in Minnesota will be its own small tourney at the Xcel center...

I will cut WBL's JV team a bit of slack because everytime I saw them play they only had about 10 kids on their roster. They may be more talented than their stats show.
