I know not a lot of people follow Legion Ball over the summer but I thought I would start a thread so you can tell us who looks good this season.

I know Grand Rapids really struggled in Omaha with a shortened lineup.
They went 0-4.
They do square off with Duluth Central tonight.

The St. Cloud Chutes (Cathedral) are 4-4 (1-3 league). Struggling to hit the ball right now but did get a nice win over Apple Valley on their way to winning the St. Cloud Legion Tournament last weekend.

Legion is for HS Sr and Jr aged kids (they use birthdates similar to AAA hockey i believe) where as town team is for people who arent eligible for Legion. Which coudl be college kids or 55 yr old Knuckleballers..

Town ball = beer concessions
Legion ball = no beer concessions

With one exceptionthat I know of.
The Rosetown Legion Hall sits right on top of the ball field with a nice patio with a great view of the game and they are open for business during games.
Great set up.

True. Good call.
I always thought the high school team should play there instead of that Metrodome-esque setup they have at the school... Puting up and tearing down the chainlink fence every year. We always had a better time playing at Rosetown (probably because we's actually win). Do they use legion field for anything other than legion ball?

Is that only because they know you'll be there and they can make a haul?

Beer is sold @ Midway during Legion games. Legion games are not school oriented so they are permitted to do so. And I do like how Rosetown has a patio on top of a hill so you can watch the game and have a beer there but the field is always in terrible shape. I don't know who takes care of the field but it is always bad when I've been there.

The 4th district which is a wood bat district during the regular season will be switching to aluminum when the playoffs begin. This way the champion does not have a huge disadvantage going into the State Tournament. Another change is there are now 8 teams instead of 7 with 2 Hamline teams, Red & Purple with Purple being Cretin kids so it is all double elimination instead of the first round being you lose you're out. Tri-City Red is the defending champion with North St. Paul & possibly Arcade-Phalen being another contender. NSP has 6 players from Hill Murray on the team & Arcade has a couple kids from North that didn't make NSP. It should be an interesting season.

You sure? I thought before last season the Dome and Midway both got the green light to get rid of 3.2.

Govs,
I'm sure.
Ole packerboy knows a can of 3.2 when he drinks one.
