Do you have to register, or can you just show up? Can you get the info off the website?

Website moved to a new location:

You can't just show up. According to the website you must register with USA hockey and with Elite II to tryout. Interesting to note that a large percentage of last years players from Elite II made Elite I this year. That shows how good of a league this has become especially for Sophomores and Juniors wanting competitive hockey that weren't able to get into Elite I. My son played in it last year and it was well run and the games were very competitive.

Noticed there is a different director. what if you sent your registration to the old address? sent awhile ago. Have Tryout letters been sent yet?

Received a phone call from Bill Moore regarding tryouts. He was in the process a week ago of getting letters in the mail. Those invited should receive letters soon, or already know that they're invited. I know he was waiting for all the Elite I stuff to get solidified before sending out letters.

Charlie Graves has been involved for several years and I'm pretty sure that Bill Moore is still running it...just spreading the workload some. I'm sure anything sent in before has been forwarded properly. I know that my registration was received and I sent it back in April.

Bill Moore has been named the men's hockey head coach at St. Mary's college for this season. That is the reason for change.

This happen yesterday? Spoke with him about a week ago and he was still processing tryout applications. Just curious. He's also still listed as commisioner on their updated website. Either way, the league will be fine. Bill did a pretty nice job from what I've experienced so far.

This was in the Press last week and if you go to the St. Mary's site, you can read the release. Yes, Bill did a great job over the last 4 years with the league getting better each year. Hopefully that trend will continue.

Well congratulations to Bill. Hopefully whoever takes his place takes the job as seriously as Bill did and does an equally outstanding job.

Elite 2 is a good league and worth checking out if a player is not playing Elite 1

Sioux Fan - how is your group going to look this year? Do you think section 1 will be able to make it back to the final game again this year? It looks like section 1 had a nice number of players make the Upper Midwest Elite League which is great.

Sioux Fan gets all the credit for these kids making the Elite league as they were all on his Elite 2 team last year. He teaches the kids to play hard and that they have to put in the time to get better. Few other kids down here that probably should have got a shot also, but it is the S.Minnesota stigma that they don't have any good hockey players down here that hurts some of these kids. Seems to me the Section did pretty well in the Advanced 17 spring festival against the metro and northern sections...oh yeah, they won that without really getting challenged.

WOW! You really think Sioux Fan did this on his own??

Get a CLUE!!!
Those kids work hard during High School and summer! I would have to say that the High School coaches from the past and present had alot to do with it!!

I guess I should have said "some of the credit." He does know what it takes to get to the next level. As far as the brown nose comment, I just appreciate a guy who will go to bat for the S. minnesota kids.

Pretty sure I have never asked Sioux Fan to go to bat for one of my kids, in fact he cut one last year from the Elite 2 team. Guess that taught the kid to work a little harder to achieve his goals. Seems to be working.

I do support all the kids that really want to go on and do the work to get there. I will do anything I can to help them move on but you are correct in saying that their HS coaches and other coaches in Bantams etc have a great deal to do with them being able to participate in our program.

I enjoy it. This weekend I even went over and watched the ICE HAWKS camp and watched one of my favorite ex-players play and he did a nice job. His name was Jay Gorman he should be playing at a higher level in my opinion he works his tail off. Good to see him play and it brought a smile to my face.

Davey I sometimes make mistakes but I am glad that Tyler got determined and has done so well this spring and summer. Good luck in Fargo and if that doesn't work out have a great Elite I and High School season.

I look forward to having Andrew this season but if the Elite 1 people really pay attention maybe he will get a slot as players decide to do other things than Elite 1. Otherwise I hope he comes to our camp and is a great leader for our group this fall.

I will be proud to go to bat for your kids any day

Davey,

That is what I am trying to say. I like their determination and work ethic.

I also like that they are very good competitors.. If they keep it up they will both do well.
