Which outside rinks have the best ice each winter?

Where can you find the best pick up games?

Some of my favorites are; the little rink in warroad (just outside the main rinks). Lake of the Isles in Minneapolis and Edina rinks.

Edina has great ice and has a fun 4 on 4 league.

the pit

My son likes going to "the pit" in Elk River...(is that where it is?)

Edina has really nice ice. They take pride in having their ice in first (in the metro, of course). Lewis park has some great adult pickup games every afternoon and Sat AM. The warming houses have really good hours, too.

Edina has taken a few steps backwards in the last few years. They took away their shinny hockey goals (legal precautions) and aren't keeping the rinks going as long as weather permits like they used to. They are still doing better than anyone around them.

Golden Valley also does nice ice.

The sad thing is that too many communities are chipping away their ice budgets and it takes a big commitment to keep nice ice.

Phalen has a nice refridgerated outdoor rink. The Oval in Roseville also has great ice and there are multiple pond hockey games going on at any given time that you can jump in on.

Don't always agree with you breakout, but you nailed it with Lake of the Isles and Edina. Grew up skating on the Isles when the West Cowboys and Coach maintained it back in the day...Hard to beat hockey on Sat, late mornings...

Good skate, good atmosphere at Lake of the Isles in the winter. Viewing can be good in the summer in that area if you know what I mean

I look like a "doof" most days. It use to bother me. However, I have become desensitized and feel comfortable standing in my CCM Us on the asphalt watching the scenery go by. Not much of a leg work out, but my neck is in great shape. :D

John Rose Oval opens today.

I took the kids there once and it was a zoo. About a 15 minute wait to pay for admission and there were 50 or so skaters on each rink. Is it always that way?
