So EP, CG and Burnsville have to slug it out in the same half of one of the U12A brackets! And Edina basically gets the other bracket to itself. Nice.....

The scheduler might have struggled with the 71 teams and 4 rinks...that same bracket plays Saturday night at 5pm and 9:30pm with the finals at 12:30 Sunday...too much to throw in a Saturday morning game.

Maybe they were counting on the 2nd Heritage rink be done !

As far as I know the second rink will be ready. The scheduling of that many teams is a nightmare. My hats off to the person who did it. As far as who teams play...You win, your the best.

LPH Ranked Teams in tournament. The tournament contains 20 top ten teams.

14A Eight top ten teams (16 teams)
14B Three top ten teams (8 teams)
12A Five top ten teams (16 teams)
12B Four top ten teams (16 teams)

It is going to be a great weekend for girls hockey, not only in Duluth but for girls hockey in Minnesota. This is one of the largest girls tournament in the entire country. Duluth has proclaimed January as girls hockey month. That weekend has a girls high school game at the Heritage Arena and UMD Womens games at the DECC. Girls Hockey has come a long way. Good luck to all of the teams in the tournament. Here is hoping that all the players, families, and guests have a great weekend in Duluth.

Great tourney, too bad it is so spread out, we played in 3 different arenas, which made it hard to catch some other noteworthy matchups.
Over all I would try to get my team there every year. Duluth is a great city.

The 12A tournament field was solid but we had a lot of down time for a 16 team tourney. Should have run a round robin with 4 pools. Play a round robin and you'll see all the top teams on Sunday amd some great games. It would guarantee every team 3 games and eliminate those 7 vs 8 place games.

The variety of arena's brings a real charm to the events...not sure why the DECC would be used though...too big a building for 60 people in attendance. It like the Girls State HS being at the "X", it looses all atmosphere and energy.

We'll be back next year and would love to see it as a round robin for 12A's.

I agree that this tourney should go to pool play. We had a great time, great competition.

Great tournament - U12B's was a bit lopsided on the brackets - one was easy, the other was hard.

Issues: No one at Pioneer at the DECC to let us in our locker room on Saturday so the girls stood around waiting to be let in and warm up.

Pictures taken at Heritage but none of the other rinks we were at and we never went back there again to see them. It seemed the majority of stuff to be purchased was at Heritage but no where else. We saw it quickly on Friday but like I said never made it back there.

Some of the officials absolutely sucked! But that happens everywhere and you just can't do anything about it.

All in all it was a fun time, great hockey and competition! WE love Duluth.
Which bracket was the easy one and which was the more diffucult to come out of? All in all it was a GREAT tournament with heritage and the other rinks being used gave the teams from the metro just exactly how many rinks are actually in duluth.

I would say the black bracket was a bit easier.
O but the Black bracket won the whole thing. And i do agree on how they only had heritage selling the photos and shirts.
