The number 2 ranked and undefeated Minnesota Golden Gophers play host to Michigan Tech this weekend in a Saturday-Sunday series. Minnesota is coming off a 3-point weekend against New Hampshire, skating to a tie on Friday 2-2, and exploding for 4 third period goals Saturday to win 6-2. Michigan Tech has lost 3 in a row, the last two coming last weekend at the Kohl Center in Madison. How does this one play out?

My prediction:
Minnesota sweep.

All signs point to a Gophers sweep. What does that mean? I'll probably be wrong but I have to go with it. Gophers sweep and come out with two easy wins.

Gophers sweep, BUT, look for it to be closer than you think, after manhandling NH in the third last game, they might overlook this team and they might come out of the first period behind on the scoreboard

Should be a big weekend for padding the stats, plus/minus...

Maybe Patterson gets his first ice time this weekend.

I was thinking the same thing. Might be a good time to give the Blake boy some minutes.

What's the deal w/ the 1 PM starts both days? Saturday & Sunday?

One would think that Tech would want to get back on Sunday for studying/homework the next week?

Especially after getting swept... :D
You know, trying to forget the weekend and getting their mind right for the next week...

The Gophers shutout Tech 3-0 in the 2nd game of the series today.

Tony Lucia, Jordan Schroeder and Ryan Stoa with the goals. Alex Kangas with 38 saves.

Good win for the Gophs!
Man, Kangas is such a good goalie! He played so well today!
Kids looked better on the PP today, many opportunities... Mattson has a good motor, and the few shifts that Larson got, he looked good as well, nice addition to the very good freshman class we have...

Tech not a bad squad, they are fast and can hit on every line...

Congrats Gophs, keep getting three a weekend and things will look good...
